I think the pens will try to sign geno and tanger for three u til Crosby’s deal is up. After that they can reevaluate if they want to rebuild or contend
Ya, I think Geno plays 2 more years and goes and plays and retires in Russia like he’s always said. Anyone who thinks he’s gonna sign for 6M or 6.5M is sadly mistaken. Not when Sid is making 8.7M. Both are super unselfish and have shared the team well and I think Geno will take a discount. But not that much..lol. It will be in the high 7’s.
And everything out there says Letang wants 5 and is willing to take a discount to stay. But Pens only want to go 3. I think they meet in the middle at 4:

Letang and the Penguins ‘have a gap to bridge.’ This news is somewhat similar to what Pierre LeBrun talked about in December with term being a big sticking point in Letang/Penguin negotiations.
Seravalli reports that his sources indicate that Letang and his representatives have asked for a 5-year extension in the ballpark of $7 million per year. The Penguins are said to still not be willing to discuss a deal of that length.
