close but just not the right combo of pieces in my mind. I like Juulsen but I have no idea how to read Galy's value. He has been slammed for being a 1 dimensional Winger who can't play Center and the Habs refuse to let him play it. But then people counter offer he has so much value bc he has offensive ability. What is really the value for him? I have no clue.

Bergevin seems so torn on what side of the fence he is on....does trades at the deadline in a win now mode but won't move young D pieces for a young C like Duchene to win now. If he really is about rebooting the roster with own youth, then why do they refuse to let Galy play C to develop? Its going to be an interesting offseason in Mtl

I honestly have no clue what Galchenyuk's value is either at this point. On the one hand, overall he produces a lot of points, which ultimately tends to dictate trade and contract value more than anything else. But on the other hand he was awful down the stretch and into these playoffs. It's not only his play in his own zone that is deficient but almost everything about the way he reads the game and plays without the puck is bad. He also tries way too many low percentage individualistic plays when he does have the puck, and can't win a faceoff to save his life. The only thing that works for him consistently is his shooting, but we saw in the playoffs that he barely ever got open to use that skill. I'm pretty confident he's not a center though at this point, and that he won't be back next season with Julien coaching.

From Colorado's point of view, you're getting a young winger with some upside who you could probably sign to a cheaper and longer contract than Duchene, and who you hope could turn things around and have success with either MacKinnon or possibly Jost (in a few years) centering him. He could be a good complementary piece in their young core.

There is value in him but I don't think Avs would want to take on another guy like him...I like Grigorenko but it was the similar sort of fresh start, rebuild the player type of situation too and I don't think Avs want to do that again. Galy isn't the strongest skater either and I don't think hes a great fit for the core going forward. They need Wingers so if he is put on a line with Landeskog and Jost...that could work if he can learn to play RW. I don't see him a fit with MacKInnon bc just as I said he isn't the best skater. As soon as they put great skaters with Andrighetto and Rantanen with Mack together. That line was so fun to watch. If Ghetto is moved off that line, they need to add speed back

Unless Montreal is adamant he has to go in a trade, I could see the Avs really low ball his value bc of those factors. Would rather try to get other assets instead

Very interesting, I wasn't able to watch much Colorado down the stretch so I didn't see that MacKinnon line, good point about the speed factor. And it's true I could understand if Colorado is unwilling to take on somewhat of a project at wing, when defense seems to be the key need. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what more Montreal can really offer in a trade for Duchene, but I don't think Juulsen is enough. The Habs also have a huge need for a left handed puck mover next to Weber, so Sergachev is pretty much untouchable as well. I still think Duchene would be the ideal player to get since he would be such a huge upgrade at center for this team, but I'm not sure how to make it work. Hoping Bergevin and Sakic will figure it out though lol
