Given how good the 22 and 23 drafts could be, I'd rather ice a respectable 'tank' team rather than try and make the playoffs. So I went with a mix of vets and youth that can grow with the team. Especially the youth. The idea of Wright, Lambert, Savoie in 22 or Bedard or Michkov in 23 is too enticing.
To me there are a handful of must takes and for various reasons. I wouldn't have taken Dreidger at all haha, but apparently that's their plan so because of that I didn't take Price, and I would've without Dreidger.
The MUST takes are:
Ritchie BOS, Girodano CGY, Bean CAR, Gaudette CHI, Oleksiak DAL, Bastian NJ, Gambrell SJ, Tarasenko STL, Foote TB, Demelo WPG.
Some of these teams just don't have much to offer so they should just take the best young player or UFA. For example, Ritchie, Bastian, Gaudette, Oleksiak, Gambrell. On all of these teams, there isn't much to pick from and these are the best emerging young players aside from Oleksiak who would be a great signing to have a big hitting dman to start a franchise.
Next are young players that wouldn't normally be available in a trade unless it was for something really good. Bean and Foote should be no brainers imo. I don't care about Nedereiter, don't care about the other 3 TB forwards. If TB wants me to take a contract, they have to pay me to do so, and I'm still taking Foote haha.
The other 3 are just good veterens (not so much Ritchie, but he's been around a while) that would play big roles on the team.
I also have no idea who to pick for Arizona, Lyubushkin just to fill the D and contract requirement.
