“I’m comfortable going into the season,” Rutherford said. “But it’s the area we will watch the closest. We won’t be in a hurry to make any changes. Hopefully these young guys fall into place and do a consistent job. If not, having more depth up front can help us in the long run. If we have to get a defenseman, we have those extra forwards, those extra pieces. I’m fully aware that at some point in time we might have to have an addition at that position.”

Don't expect GMJR to make a trade for a d-man or make cap room for a guy like Franson until part way through the season when the young D core will be tested.

Fehr is out until Dec with elbow surgery. He won't be in on "opening night".

Erixon will be claimed off waivers if sent to the AHL.

I agree, and this is not a knock on just this one roster because a lot of posts have Erixon traded or sent down....but has any pens fan besides me and a few others even seen Erixon play before? He's better than freaking Lovejoy! And he makes $500k less, so idk why everyone is in a hurry to dump him. End rant. cheers
