Mostly a fun post to unite the world championship line that basically singlehandedly fuelled Canada’s gold medal run. Calgary’s probably the only team out of the 3 that could put this line together, because it doesn’t make sense for the Sens or Ducks to give up the pieces necessary to get Mangiapane given Calgary wants to win now. Monahan’s got a higher peak than Brown as an offensive top 6 C but the Sens probably don’t do this because they need Brown’s all around game more at this point, and would prefer for a Monahan trade to be White+a couple futures. Assuming Anaheim resigns Getzlaf, they might be willing to move Henrique, as they’ll have Getzlaf/Lundestrom/Zegras/Steel up the middle. Picks are mainly for the retention, Henrique cleared waivers earlier this year so it’s pretty clear he doesn’t exactly have value at his current cap number, but half retained he’s worth a couple decent picks.
Couple mil cap room to add a rental at the deadline. Probably have to pay to dump (or buy out) Lucic next summer in this hypothetical, gonna need some extra dough to keep Gaudreau, Mangiapane, and Tkachuk around. Raanta and Brown come off the books the following year when they need to resign Valimaki and Dube, and Zary/Pelletier/Ruzicka/the forward they’ll likely draft at #12 should push for a lineup spot between now and then. Wolf might be ready to be a backup in 2 years.
