Expecting Newhook to just step into a 3C role right away is more than a little risky, especially in the playoffs. Newhook is not in the same place Makar was when he came out a few years ago.

Newhook was absolutely dominant last night, had 5 points. Definitely a risk, but the host on NESN said last night that they know the development team for the Avs, and that they absolutely love Newhook, and that he'll be in the NHL in a few weeks.

You have 15 or so games to get him acclimated, and up to speed at 3C.

He might be able to do it but having that as an expectation is risky. I'm sure they do love him and they should but they aren't going to know how he fits in until he gets there. Also, practice time is going to be very limited due to the tight schedule. It would be great if he could step in but I think counting on that to happen is premature.
