ADA's contract isn't going to be terminated. He's not going to just walk away from the money, and the NHLPA wouldn't let it happen either. It's a pretty simple buyout though-$383K cap hit in 2021-2022, then $883K cap hit in 2022-2023.

Sort of a Sven Baertschi type situation (Not personality-wise obviously). Baertschi would obviously like to be a full time NHLer, but also isn't going to just walk away from the money that he's owed. That would be a pretty bad precedent to set, and the PA would probably be livid.
