the problem with the VAN trade is you don't have leverage.
Seattle is more likely to take that contract than you are, for probably a 2nd depending how high VAN drafts.
For VAN that kills 2 birds with 1 stone.

i dont see why Seattle would do that for a second. the going rate to take 6 million is a first as we saw with marleau. If anything it would increase since its a flat cap

you can't use Marleau as the bar. He was only winning to go so many places.
Given LE has a NTC too, but if he's willing to go, I have to think it's to more than like 4 spots.
Also I imagine it's much easier to get him to go down the road to seattle, as compared to NY. 1st he's closer to his kids staying in school, and 2nd there are no state taxes in WA.

As far as the value, it's 1 year. That's the reason it's just a 2nd. Maybe they get a prospect back too or something but I don't think they are giving up a early round 1st, depending on where VAN finishes.
That's too much for a 1 year deal.
