Why would the Rangers trade Howden, Robertson, and even Buchnevich, when all three have much higher upside than their trade value. Even Strome is worth much more to the Rangers than they would receive in trade.

The Rangers despite their record are playing well. The Rangers are in the final stages of a rebuild and are playing in by far the most competitive division in the NHL. NYR is not going to trade away the future in order to try and win Lord Stanley's Cup this year.
