Redoing the '17-'18 D

That's not a real good for Gardiner is it? Leafs get a draft pick about 26 and 58 and don't improve in net by taking on Niemi 4.5m salary. Nielsen wouldn't be ready next year. Like the forwards but if Hyman if playing as well as he is playing now..I would like him locked up long term and more $.

Niemi isn't in it to help the Leafs... It's to make the money work for Dallas. I agree, I would love to get more for Gardiner and they probably can. However, I would take draft picks or prospects for him at this point.

Nielsen has a good shot at being ready for sure. A big bodied 21 year old next year has every chance of making the team. Of course he isn't a lock, but I disagree with you that he's a lock not to be in the N next year.

Thank Leafs 1793 for responding. Don't know why you would want to trade Gardiner for distant help possibility. That does'nt help the Leaf D this year. If anything I would prefer to get high level prospects like Honda and Lindel in return. And to bet that Leafs can sign Shattenkirk and Alzner as UFAs, thanks would be nice but a long shot.
. Nielsen is probably third Marlie D call up at this point, but it would be great to see him as Leaf in a year or two. Nielsen has to improve skating and mobility to be considered a long term NHLer....but if he can do that, he certainly is somebody the Leafs could use.

Lol really Gardiner for Niemi who's more then likely getting close to the end of his career you can't be serious. And oh FYI Shattenkirk is looking at playing in the Northeast US not in Canada.
