mostly because of his contract. he is a bottom six Centre and on Calgary hes the fourth line Centre. 3 million for a 4th line centre is pretty bad. i disagree with the above move however because if Calgary does trade Ryan it will be to clear cap space for a top 6 RW

Dont get me wrong Ryan does what hes payed for. last year he was the flames 7th highest payed forward and he contributed the 7th most points. hes also good on the PK and can slot in on the PP if needed. i dont mind if calgary keeps him especially if theres no deal to be made for a top 6 winger
