Yes, Igor that was the purpose of the trade, so the Leafs wouldn't get him back. I realize I'm being subjective, but many folks who did not watch Kessel as Leaf especially in later years thought he was the best player on the team. Gee, he was usually the worse forward on his line. Leafs were happy rid themselves of his play an contract and it appears the Pens are happy to have him...Well I guess that makes it a good trade.
My personal opinion of Phil is that he is a good guy, but I'm happy for him that something to him and he is playing better hockey and seems like a happier guy.
The fact that the Pens won a Stanley Cup with Phil, doesn't mean that much. They might have won the Cup without him. The record number of Cups won by a player is eleven. Doesn't make that player the greatest hockey player of all time.

Well, I mean yes. TECHNICALLY, they could have won the Cup without him - anything is possible.
That being said Kessel was probably the number one reason - by quite a margin - that Pitt was able to overcome the best team in the NHL last year. In my opinion, he was a better candidate for the Conn Smythe and unfortunately got snubbed.

Sorry Igor, I was trying to factually inform that Kessel wasn't that good a hockey player as a Maple Leaf....well especially in the last year and half. Hence the reason for the trade.
