Doubt Sergachev would even waste his time on that offer sheet in high taxed New York City, Probably need to offer sheet him in the $7.5M to $8.0M range for him to sign it. He could accept $5M from Tampa and still take home as much as from the Rangers.

IDK what you think Monahan is worth but if you think that a 24 yo defenseman who was on pace to put up 60 points last year (and put up 5 more points than Monahan) and the 22nd overall pick is a horrible trade for Monahan than you really are overvaluing Monahan. Everyone can talk about Deangelo's character and political opinions but his teammates seem to like him, he isn't a locker room problem nor is he a problem whatsoever for the team so that won't affect his trade value.
I'd understand someone saying the Rangers overpaid here or that one of the other trades could use some work but this take is just bad.

You're forgetting the part about how its New York City tho. Everyone playing for Tampa loves Tampa Im sure, but there isn't really a more enticing place for guys to play than in NY. And to be the number one lefty D instead of 3rd? I would sign it. You're either getting the same ticket matched by Tampa and staying put and getting rich, or you get to be the guy in NY
