Ottawa would probably ask for Carolina's 1st to take on Smith, it's one year but it's only 1 million in signing bonuses so I don't see them takiing on his contract for late rounders.

It won't take a 1st to move Smith. His Cap hit is $2M less than Marleau's was, and even half the salary of that Cap hit. Quite frankly, the 3rd would be fine in most cases. I added the 4th for taking advantage of the Flat Cap. Maybe add another lesser Prospect, but nothing more than that.
