That's actually a massive loss for Toronto. Nylander is way younger and has much better value. Ekholm also only has 2 years left before becoming a free agent. Toronto also has tons of left handed d-man and Ekholm arguably wouldn't make the top 6 on that side. Rielly and Muzzin are secured as the top 2 left handed spots and the third pair is is better off going to a guy like Sandin or Lehtonen to prove they earn a spot and help their development. It's also a better cost savings for Toronto.
Easy decline for the Leafs. Only d-man they'd have interest in would be Ellis and they don't really have the pieces Nashville would be looking for to get him. The age of Nashville's defence and Toronto's core is too far off. Teams don't match up well for a deal at all.
