If you retained half his salary I’d trade Manson + 3rd

1. I can't see any contender taking Karlsson, at least not without serious retention from San Jose, which kinda defeats the purpose.

2. Any team that has a hole at center should trade for Hertl. Calgary, Florida, Winnipeg come to mind immediately.

3. I can't see anyone trading for Couture's contract in the flat cap world (since it has seven years left) without a similarly big contract with a questionable end coming back to the sharks.

4. I would not bring back any of those players. Maybe M. Karlsson if the price is right. Soresnen will probably be back though

5. They should trade for someone like Anderson, buyout Jones and promote Melnichuk to be their tandem for next year. Then just go year by year on the goalie situation after that. Buying out Jones might seem extreme but what else can you do? You cannot bring him back as your starter after the past two seasons if you seriously think you are still a contender (which they aren't but they don't seem to realize that yet).
