This is one where Habs fans and Canucks fans don’t like it(I’m guessing). Armia is a valuable piece for us as he can play anywhere from line 1-4, produce decently and play solid d with some size mixed in. I know the league is getting smaller but Hoglander and caufield, jeez. I get it the kid is flashy but exactly how every single fan base hypes up there prospects, we might be seeing that with nils.

Hoglander fits our needs and our style of play, so I tought it would be a great fit. I do also like Armia, but we have him, Lehkonen and Byron who are the same type of defensive 15-20 goals wingers. There's just not enough room on the team for as many defensive players (especially if they cost 3mil each). That's part of the reason why we are not able to score goals. We spend too much money and lineup room for defensive player, which Hoglander isn't.

We've seen in the playoffs that a small skilled team can defeat bigger teams (we would have won against Philly if their defense wasn't so tight.)

Interesting trade idea, but I think VAN really likes Hoglander’s upside so it’s likely a no-go. They’ll need a cheap guy to try to fill a top 6 winger role (maybe two) in the next couple seasons, and him and Podkolzin are earmarked for them.

It’s an interesting problem. I have zero problem spendings the money on Byron, armia and lehkonen. Our problem was the bigger guys stepping up. We saw how valuable those guys can be (armia Byron and lehkonen). I also think that hoglander is kinda like drouin, where he has all kinds of flash and talent but if he’s only putting up 50 points how valuable is he? Those invisible players like drouin and domi kill us and all teams, and I see that from hoglander.

It depends of the way you see it. I really disagree on the opinion that Drouin and Domi are bad for us. I mean, yes he doesn't meet the expectations, but for a 5,5mil, he's producing right as he should be (around 50pts). He's still definetly a valuable player to the team, and his biggest problem is not his skills, it's the mental. Same thing with Domi. He had an awesome year last year, and this year his point production was closer to his average. You have to moderate the talent. I don't know Hoglander enough to know if there are issues with his consistancy or if he struggles on the mental side, but skills are definetly there.

I may like hockey a little more offensive than you, so that's why I rather have more offensive guys than defensive, but again, it depends the way you see it smile
