I know how much Edmonton likes one-for-one deals.

Instead of dealing with the Bjugstad and Johnson contracts by giving up stuff, just let it sit for another year. Bjugstad's deal will expire and he's not a completely useless player if healthy. Johnson can sit in the AHL and can be more easily moved with 2 years left.

Hornqvist also has a year before his NTC expires. Ideally he goes to Seattle next offseason.

Also, clearly this means Edmonton will have made other moves to clear up the necessary cap space.

Both players have flaws but have upside. Edmonton gets a young goalie who isn't Mike Smith. Penguins get a talented player for the bottom six that can compete with Kapanen for a top 6 spot.
