Description
I think this major trade is fair for both sides in terms of what they need, look for and would be willing to pay to acquire what they want.

He needs a change of scenery, you are not .920+ stanley cup level goalie and then forget how to do it.. too many factors against him in pittsburgh.

This was...pretty aggressive...

So, Carolina is pretty much screwed if Dougie doesn't resign...you know that, right?

The Canes also scored 3.26 gpg (That's without Dougie for 20 games). The Leafs, with their vaunted offense, scored 3.4 gpg. Not a huge difference.
On the other end, the Canes allowed 2.83 gpg, whereas the Leafs allowed 3.24. One of these teams was playing with Reimer and Marazek.

Why on earth would Carolina sacrifice their D (In a major way, by the way), to change the way that they play?

It's also funny that you're trading Kerfoot, a 3C, for a guy who you think has very little value, then you're firing him in as your starter. You get why that's foolish, right?

They are not changing the way they play. They are getting better while getting much better goaltending (yes, Andersen is levels better than both Mrazek and Reimer combined). They would re-sign Dougie.. he loves it there and they love him there. No reason to not sign him.

Leafs would sacrifice their F in a major way too in that deal, you dont look at that either. Its sacrifice for sacrifice so both teams get better overall. Simple..

Murray needs a change of scenery, lost his job in Pittsburgh and hates it there. Those guys dont have starter value even though they would later play starter role. But I think change of scenery would help him get back into form he was in couple years back. Thats why I traded for him. And no, Murrays value is not Kapanen++++ on the market.. thats foolish.

I think we've all seen what happens when you sacrifice defence for offense though, right?

Aho, Teuvo and Svech make up a pretty great, young offensive core, then you add Necas who looks to be heading in the right direction, plus a likely bounce back from Trochek, if he can stay healthy. I'm not sure why I'd want to change that, especially when my D-core is as solid as it is?

As for Murray, I'm not saying he's worth Kapanen++++. He's definitely worth more than a 3C though.
