Second time swinging at this Armchair GM thing (partially brought on by pure sadness), and I think I've made a pretty fair roster with reasonable trades. I would acquire Josh Manson and a 4th for Kasperi Kapanen, and Travis Dermott (hoping Toronto is not on the 12 team trade list). It feels like an overpayment, but the present market demands it. I then acquired 2 2nd round picks from Los Angeles, using the JGP trade as a benchmark (JGP for 1, 2, 3), I thought this would be reasonable. Additionally, Los Angeles has a surplus of draft picks, and acquiring a skilled middle 6 forward is something that would benefit them greatly. Johnsson was on a good point pace and performed admirably despite his injury so I felt him + a sweetener would be worth 2 + 2. The Bracco trade was more a second chance for him, and a lottery ticket for a cheap playmaker. I felt 2 LottoMax tickets was a decent enough return. This set up gives the necessary flexibility for Toronto, addresses the RHD weakness, and gets fair turnover for surpluses.
As for roster moves, Mikko Lehtonen will likely be an immediate impact, top 4 dman. Placing him alongside a similarly minded, Swedish 2-way defenseman seems like the best choice. Rielly-Manson is an ideal pair, as it gives Rielly a defensive bulwark allowing him to fully utilize his top 10 OFD skill fully. Muzzin-Holl has been an effective shutdown pair, and I would like to continue utilizing it in the future.
LA isn't trading two 2nds for Johnsson especially their own 2nd which will be a very early 2nd, in a flat cap and few teams with cap space you're proably getting at best a 3rd round pick for Johnsson.
I don’t think the Ducks are interested in trading Manson anymore unless it’s an overpay or for another RHD. It’s not a trade tho.
Dermott plays both sides, and I felt like this was an overpay. Game-breaking speed, 20 goal scorer, 40+ points, PK capability, in Kapanen, and a young, versatile 2-way Defenseman. I think to say this isn't a fair trade massively undervalues Kapanen, and Dermott's abilities.

I used the Pageau trade as a benchmark. They also have 7M of cap space, with an additional 2M coming off the books in the offseason so Cap isn't much of a concern for them.

Our definition of “overpay” is different. But still I don’t think Manson will he moved
