Signed Tyson Barrie to a short term contract to see if he can regain his offensive touch. It would also allow the team to slowly break in Seider, especially on the PP side. Barrie's numbers weren't as good as his COL days, but he also played a different role in TOR than in COL (he played 1st line minutes in COL, 2nd line minutes in TOR, and didn't have as good of a defensive dman partner as Nemeth or DDK can be).
Drafted Byfield 2OA. He'll spend 1 more year in the CHL, play in the WJC (if it goes on). Barely made the cutoff for this draft year, so he's one of the youngest players in the draft.
Trade Helmer and Glendening at the TDL. Should return 4th round picks for each (with some retention for Helm). Helm was a positive player for DET last year, and Glendening is one of the better FO men in the league. Promote Veleno and a winger (Brome, Smith, Pearson) to fill in the spots.
Collect more picks. Shoot for the playoffs in 2021-2022.
TOR needs more LTIR money. They also need a cheap RHD (or dman in general). TOR is at almost $77m for 16 players, need a min. of 4 more players with 4.5mm remaining. Z would give them 10.5mm.
