Your return for Deangelo is closer to the ballpark than I've seen elsewhere. Perhaps still a touch short though. Though, it seems like the easiest way to deal with it is to trade Trouba and use the extra money to pay Deangelo.
I think there's certainly an understanding that Panarin heavily contributed to Strome's production, but at this point the "Panarin caused this" backlash is actually way overblown in comparison. Strome was at a 70 point pace this year. 70 point Centers are worth a tonnnnnn. Multiple 1sts etc.. Strome is not that. But Strome is a 45 point Center with middle 6 guys. With a higher peak if you give him better linemates. That's still worth a solid amount. Around a 1st.
The Hayes situation was not really that. Hayes was a lot more self sufficient as a scorer, he was just played in a lot more defensive role, while still putting up very respectable production. He should've been signed long term 2 seasons ago. (Hayes and Gorton were only off by about 500k which is crazy considering they paid Spooner and Namestnikov a combined 8 mil)
Also it's unlikely that one of Miller or Lundkvist doesn't make the team. I wouldn't be signing any D UFA's for more than a year or 2 considering our d prospects coming through.
