Thoughts? Wildly optimistic that Smith includes the Senators in his 10 team trade list. If I'm a player who doesn't want to move, players include teams with cap issues or true contenders on my trade list,.
Compliance buyout....just for a flat cap, I'm doubting it.

If they do happen to be on his 10 team list, then FO can always threaten buyout. His hit is not really too bad and something tells me he’d rather play in the league then sit unsigned, even if it’s for a bottom feeder. And this exactly the type of deal Ottawa loves: get above the cap floor at the cheapest cost (Smith’s actual money hit past July 1st I believe is somewhere in the 1-2 mil range)

And in regards to the buyout/cap point, I think that’s a fair point but let’s say the cap drops to 78 mil, this scenario is still totally doable...
