Description

Lou realizes with the commitments made to his core free-agents last offseason and the trade and immediate extension of Pageau; that now is the time to win and shape this roster to compete.

He begins with a minor trade, sending Josh Ho-Sang to SL and then gets real busy on Draft Day- making three more trades- shipping out both Nick Leddy (Mon) and Johnny Boychuk (Tor) as well as Michael Dal Colle (Ott) for a net gain of 4 picks, all of which come in 2021.

Lou tries to rekindle the Parise deal that almost happened at the deadline in 2020, but Ladd getting injured again all but squashes that from happening, instead he is able to unload Komarov after paying his last bonus money in July to Detroit by attaching one each of his extra second round picks for the next upcoming draft

Outside of his 5 trades, he gets his big three RFA's signed for under 20 million and then pays big for Mike Hoffman, re-ups with Andy Greene and adds both Jason Spezza and Bryan Boyle to 1-year contracts to provide depth

Lastly, is the inclusion of his prospects. Aho battles Hickey for the 7th defensive spot, Oliver Wahlstrom gets the inside track for a RW spot on one of the top three lines (as Bailey moves back to LW) and the big move is getting Ilya Sorokin finally to come over from Russia. Bellows can also push Boyle for the 4th line LW spot or get into the RW mix as Wahlstrom gets more seasoning
