I thought he would fetch that - not necessarily from Carolina after the vatenan trade but he is a solid d-man that is worth a contending teams 1st

There really aren't many Rangers who play better when they leave, though Skjei might be one of them. He's big, he's a great skater, and he's been playing against other teams top lines.

I actually don't disagree with you. There are just many harsh critics of the Rangers on this site.

JT Miller is really the only recent example. Stepan, Callahan, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Nash, Hagelin, Gaborik, I'd even say McDonagh, all got worse after leaving the Rangers. Skjei started out strong and has been in a spiral for the past four or so years. Maybe if he settles into a second pair role he will get better, but as a top D, he was awful.
