Description
The Canucks are in great shape for the future and despite several heavy contracts, most of them expire by the time the Canucks need the money for extensions.
Alex Pietrangelo gives them a top tier shutdown defenceman with a winning pedigree (many playoff appearances with the Blues which includes a Stanley Cup) who would play very well with Hughes, and can eat big minutes which reduces the pressure on Myers and Edler to do the same, and should allow them to dominate defensively on the second pairing. Stecher could jump into the top 4 as well, with his incredible mobility and puck management, he could also land on the power play. Jordie Benn gives them reliability and physicality on the third pair.
As for the offence, it could absolutely be a top-5 unit next season especially with Toffoli. This is a very complete top six, with an amazing third line as well that has all kinds of potential. The fourth line will give them a fantastic shutdown unit especially considering that Beagle and Sutter both are vets with cups, and are fantastic defensively and in the circle.
I could see this as a top-5 offence, top-10 defence team that makes a monster run in the playoffs. They're actually in much better shape contract-wise than it appears because of the expirations of their larger ones, and if Hughes and Pettersson both were to get eight figures (I don't see either of them getting that) they'd be ok by sacrificing Beagle Sutter and Roussel.

First off, the book How To Win Friend and Influence People would suggest you don't insult them while trying to feed them a sh*t sandwich.

Second, why would Edmonton pay the Canucks for Baertschi when he's not even an NHLer these days? You must have meant to add Juolevi or someone.

There is a lot to digest here,
1. A.Pietrangelo will need to be signed longer then 4 years, the 9 million is probably a good guess on what he is worth.
2. J.Markstrom will want more then 4 million a year over 2 years, he's reportedly asking for 5-6 years north of 6 million
3. Trading L.Eriksson is going to be extremely hard, especially with the current price tag to send a contract with a 6 million cap hit for the next two years. this conversation starts with a 1st rounder with an A prospect. i could see Demko being moved with Eriksson to a team that has space and needs a goalie.
4. Trading S.Baertschi will again cost more then a 4th rounder..... if we ship out a 4th then expect to trade Juolevi or an equivalent type of prospect.
5. this is minor but i don't believe Sutter ever won a cup..

I'm all over the Canucks going all in and bolstering the team to be a true contender, but we're going to have to give up big assets to shed some of this money.
