Petry and Thompson

Vegas is interested in adding a defenceman. I think Petry makes a lot of sense for them because 1) He is RH 2) Has term. We know McPhee and McCrimmon dont make moves for rentals (Tatar trade) and if they do, its usually a sign and trade (Patches and Stone). He has term left, which is enticing for Vegas. Thompson is a really good fourth liner and will replace Eakin on the PK.

Montreal adds assets for their rebuild. I know Petry is real good but this team isnt going anywhere. Adding a first and second will only hep Montreal in their rebuild. Eakin and Holden are in this trade to make the salaries work, I dont think either have much value (maybe Holden does?) nut talking to Vegas fans about Eakin makes me think he’s an overpaid fourth liner. Both can be flipped at the deadline for picks. I think in order to be successful, Habs need to get rid of Timmins and his crew tbh or this first may end up being wasted too. Im a bit weary of adding a second but let me know what you think.
