Hard pass. Probably fair value but I really like Kniazev and think he could fetch us a good winger in the future or take Simek/Dillons spot when they leave

Kniazev won’t be ready for 2-3 years. He’s moveable as an offensive defenseman because we have Merkley. Our forward prospects aren’t ready this year, obviously and I don’t think they’ll be ready next year. Signing Pageau for 3 years would be really ideal to keep our top 9 competitive after Thornton and Marleau leave. The trade is absolutely worth it.

Pageau is not as good as his stat line suggests and id be weary to pay him what he will demand on the market this year

I agree his stats are inflated this year but he is a very good 3C, plays in all three zones effectively and has a lot of energy. As a 3C I’d be happy to pay him 3.5mil a year for 3-4 years.

If he’s putting up these numbers this year on a bad Ottawa club, those numbers will inflate even more on SJs top six. He could be the secondary scoring we have desperately lacked this year

Value is fair for JGP but sens aren't making any trades with SJ that improve their team while owning their 1st.
