Description

Blues make two minor moves. Adding Fleury offers a young LHD with size who may later fit when JBo and Gunnar are done. Carolina adds depth and size with Sanford.

Blues flip a stay-at-home RHD to Toronto (who desperately needs one) for a big LWer who may fit in with the Blues philosophy over the long-haul.

Likely not considering his youth, but the Fabbri trade was Doug Armstrong making good on his word to Fabbri and his agent. Everyone in St. Louis knew Fabbri did not fit into the Berube system of 200 foot, fore checking, "size" hockey. Fabbs requested a trade over the summer. Armstrong told him to be patient. Fabbs was patient and didn't complain, so Army moved him to a destination where he instantly became a top six player and a power play piece. Plus, he's young enough to fit the Detroit rebuild.

Perhaps if Fabbs had been able to play more and get his stats up, the Blues could have asked for more, but he was simply a black sheep on the Blues. It's a great move for Detroit and Fabbri. We St, Louisans hope nothing but the best for the young man. We also hope DLR can become a solid third liner to take a little sting off the surface.
