why he's trash. you wouldn't rather have compher as your second line center, strome on the third line, and kamanev a solid prospect to take over third line when strome becomes a free agent?
not even a little bit-- people are so harsh on Andersson because management said he was "nhl ready" after they picked him when he wasn't.. There are so many players that didn't even touch the NHL that were drafted with a similar profile.
Mark Scheifele is a perfect example of this (by anderssons age Scheifele played a total of 11 nhl games with 1 point, andersson has played 49 with 8 points).
Scheifele didn't play significant time in the NHL until his age 21 season (was 13-14, his bday is march of 93). Andersson turns 21 in October.
That season Scheifele put up 34 points in 63 games. I'm not saying Andersson will become as good or anything, but the expectations that were put on him (replacing stepan, to essentially be a 50-60 point 2c from the start) was just unrealistic.
Sean Couturier didnt really break out until he was 25 years old (he broke 70 points after not breaking 40 in his first 6 seasons).
It's funny how people have no patience to let these players develop. Look what happened to Dylan Strome after he was traded from Arizona.. he exploaded with 51 points in 58 games, sometimes players just need to be put in the right situation. Rangers NEED to let Andersson develop. He's been successful at every level he's been at, just give it time and he'll adjust to the NHL.
I would rather get a decent return for Kreider and keep Anderrson.
