Description

I like the fact that they got Burakovsky (despite overpaying the Caps). Sure he hasn't produced so far during the regular season, but he has been one of the best Caps during the playoffs in the past couple of years. If you can sign him for 3 or 4x3.25m I'd say this will end up being a steal if he can translate his playoff performances to the regular season with top 6 minutes.

Donskoi reportedly will sign today with an AAV in the 3-4m range. Good possession player on the third line who can score some goals.

But the 2nd line... Now that they're out on Panarin, the Avs still need a good upgrade on that line. They offered Panarin something between 11.67 and 12.5 so they have quite some room to spend. Lee would check the most boxes of any UFA, but his contract will be really bad. Sakic managed the salaries good so far and I don't think he's willing to overpay that much. Dzingel and Nyquist met with the Avs but I don't expect them for the same reason as Lee. Could Ferland be the final player they are targetting? Would be a good addition to the middle 6.

2C has to be acquired by trading Barrie. I guess those rumours will start again after some defensemen UFA's are signed. Or are the Avs going to surprise and will they offer sheet Aho to a big contract ^^?

Anyway I think Kerfoot and Donskoi will be together on the 3rd line to have some good possession guys together, along with either Jost or Compher

What happens when mckinnon and landeskog are up in a few years? Youll have to sell off other piece's to keep them because you have that 10 million dollar second line centre. Just some thoughts

That 10M centre won't happen. I first create that centre and then started with those contracts, just to see how much that 2nd potentially can cost. If that Barrie-Kadri trade happens, it will cost just 4.5M. And a couple of depth players might be gone in 2 years (Compher, Calvert for example)
