Description
Here is the precedent for all of my trades, whether you think the trades are fair or not these have happened, NHL Gms have decided to do these trades in the past and may do it again

Washington traded Phillip grubauer and Brooks Orpik for a 2nd round pick, COL bought Orpik out and Washington signed him back for $1 mil

Carolina Traded a young stud D-Man (Hanifin) with a young speedy forward (Lindholm) with tons of upside for a D prospect (Fox) , a gritty forward (Ferland) and a Proven top 4 RHD (Hamilton) my trade doesn’t fit this perfectly but it is based on this.

WPG trades Joel Armia, cap dump of Steve Mason, 4th and 7th for Simon bourque

1.
TOR
  1. Choix de 7e ronde en 2019 (SJS)
Détails additionnels:
Let me know what team you guys think needs a young goalie and can take on the Marleau cap for a year
SJS
  1. Marleau, Patrick
  2. Woll, Joseph
Détails additionnels:
Marleau is bought out and signed back, tell me what team this trade should be with, the value difference (only getting a 7th back) is due to a higher caphit and non-proven goalie
2.
TOR
  1. Greenway, Jordan
  2. Spurgeon, Jared
Détails additionnels:
MIN is giving up a young forward but getting back a more skilled and faster one, they also get younger on back-end and Get a pick which they need in order to not be the oldest team in the league.
MIN
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [Droits de RFA]
  2. Liljegren, Timothy
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2019 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
Differences from CAR CGY trade is Hanifin> Liljegren so TOR doesn’t get a prospect back, Greenway is younger than Ferland so TOR gives up a pick.
3.
TOR
  1. Choix de 7e ronde en 2019 (CBJ)
Détails additionnels:
Again let me know what team is willing to take a cap dump in exchange for help elsewhere
NYR
  1. Brown, Connor
  2. Zaitsev, Nikita
  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2020 (TOR)
  4. Choix de 3e ronde en 2020 (TOR)
Détails additionnels:
I think Zaitsev can be re-habbed but the leafs aren’t the team to do it so while selling low isn’t usually the way to go it is the way I would go, picks are higher in this trade because Zaitsev has more term than mason

Washington traded a starting NHL goalie. Orpik is not nearly the cap hit that Marleau is. You need to add a lot more than an unproven goalie who has never played in the NHL for someone to take Marleau's contract. Then you need Marleau to agree to waive his NMC. Then once he goes right back to Toronto the league likely challenges with cap circumvention. It is time for fans to accept that Marleau will be playing for Toronto next year.

So the league would challenge for cap circumvention when TOR does it but not WSH.. ok, and Orpik was $750,000 less than Marleau, not a ridiculous difference, Woll not being proven yet is the only hang up I see, hence not getting a second rounder back, I could add a mid round pick too, if you think that’s more realistic

1) Woll isn't being traded. Leafs prospect depth at goaltending is thin and they won't move Woll or Scott because of that. They need competition internally. Plus that's not enough to make any team consider the buy out situation. I get the trade comparable is there, but the players listed aren't. Washington gave up a NHL back up that had hopes of being a starter if he was given the chance, in comparable that would likely be a Johnsson or Kapanen needed to have that deal go through and then Toronto gets back a higher pick.

2) Kapanen, Liljegren and a 2nd might get Toronto Spurgeon, but it doesn't get both of Spurgeon and Greenway. Carolina gave up Lindholm and Hanifin who were both NHL players with potential. Kapanen has 1 year of experience and Liljegren hasn't played NHL minutes yet. So again, you're trade comparison idea is there, but you're players are far off.

3) It won't take that much to move Zaitsev for such a little return. & Toronto wouldn't move him for such little return either.

This post needs quite a bit of work.

As a Ranger fan I would certainly take that deal, even though we already have numerous overlaid defenseman. I think the Leafs can dump him with less pain.

1) I see what you mean but I’d put Woll’s Value very close to Grubauer, it is just about finding a team that wants a prospect and doesn’t need someone that can start right away, he isn’t quite worth as much and that’s why I didn’t get a 2nd back, as I said to someone else I could see them adding another pick to make up the difference
2) I Think Kappy is worth as much as Lindholm (before this year) and yes Liljegren isn’t worth as much as Hanifin but that is why the leafs are adding rather than MIN... Fox was worth 2 2nds so it’s like Liljegren + 3 seconds = Hanifin
3) yeah I was just going off of the only comparable I could think of off the top of my head, I agree it’s an overpay but I didn’t just want to invent my own trade
