I think the issue was Ducks not willing to move either Dmen. Sounds like there was an abrupt issue with montour.

Greg other issue I see with your moves are the picks yo have given away. Both first rounders for the next 2 years, both 2nd rounders for the next two years. That trade to vancouver is pretty much a no go from both sides. Bringing in a rookie with no experience for the playoffs and no depth to cover injuries.

The team looks good for next year... but this may not be the best plan to roll into the playoffs with.

might be, but with the assets being offered, i think they would reconsider. Also, i made simulations for all 30 teams as backup who to target and ANA was in pretty tight situation for 2019/2020.....

About picks :

VAN trade is all about compensation for those lost, we got fleeced here, but getting new kid for the farm so Gardiner wont just walk like JvR did and i dare to bet VAN with the current D situation will be one of prime hunters on Gardiner this offseason.

2019 -first we lost already, losing 2nd means we are without 26th and 57th but we gained 40th back ( approximations ) + Manson
2020 -same as above, losing late first and second for early second....not that bad in my books, so again cca 40th + Pesce

About depth for 2018/2019 playoffs :

Rielly-Zaitsev
Dermott-Manson
Hainsey-Ozhiganov and Borgman in the mix, kid played 48 games last year, he wasnt that awful ( + Rosen, Marincin, Holl )

Gardiner or not, i dont believe we will pass BOS this year and if, then theres TBL....but with the roster above....i bet they can be TBL of 2019/2020

with the roster above, and current one, TML is on the way to hit playoffs regulary for years so those 1st rounders will be late.
Farm is healty right now, we have 85% of kids that are performing ( even if not being 1st rounders )
TML roster top 6 covered for next 6 years ( 23y average ), 2 young Ds with 2 more knocking on the door....so i believe those lost draft picks arent such a loss, tho i agree, the last such maneuver didnt pan out very well.
