Description

Saw the Drouin and Klefbom trades here, https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1090258, then decided to change up the Klefbom trade a bit. Oilers get 2 young forwards who are cheap, and a serviceable right handed dman.

The Carolina trade gives us a top dman, while sending Carolina a winger who can score and a goalie who is significantly better than any of the 3 they have, while retaining some of his salary.

Winnipeg trade helps them with their cap space, while giving us another very capable dman, and replacing him with a good prospect and a solid dman who is starting to come into his own, and is locked down for the next 4 years.

The Ottawa and San Jose trades are just representative of what I would do with those players. The same type of trade could be made to any team across the league who needs a good stay at home dman and a good defensive forward.

The Colorado trade gives them a great right-handed dman who can move the puck and run a PP, and a prospect.
The Devils then send the 1st round pick to the Islanders for Sorokin, on the condition that he leaves the KHL and comes to North America. If he doesn't agree to those terms, the 1st changes to 2 seconds and we take Söderström.

The Devil's would also have lots of cap space to resign Hallsy, Nico, and Blacky, while leaving enough cap space for the future. Until the 2023-24 season, then we will be very close to the cap.

I dont think a 1st is coming for Vatanden + another player. Fan made dreaming. Same thing with Trouba trade, fan dreaming, terrible for Winnipeg, just throwing out assets throw the window. Why ould Carolina give away Hamilton and get back Schnieder? Are they stupid? They would want more

You want Trouba? My God, where should I start... 1st + Severson + Nathan Bastian for taking on Kulikovs contract and Trouba. If even that.

I like that Hamilton trade, but we don't retain if we are sending a 2nd as well. Vats only has 1 more year on his contract.

As for Trouba, I'd do Severson, Bastian, a 2020 1st and 2019 3rd for Kulikov and Trouba. Both those changes still fit into my the team I was aiming for.

What do you think about the Klefbom or Drouin trades? Any changes? The Oilers need to move a LHD and they can't move Sekera or Russell, as they both have NTCs, so it's gotta be Nurse or Klefbom.

I like the move for Trouba, it makes sense for both teams. Selling high on Butcher is a good move Imo, but Drouin is a gamble. Drouin doesn't show up in half games, but he still has 1st line potential.

I would give Duchene that cap hit on a 5 year deal, 7 is too long for me. I don't think Schneider is that valuable to other teams so Carolina likely isn't interested. I wouldn't give up a 1st rounder for a goalie prospect, as we need help in other areas (and we have Blackwood, Schmid as solid goalie prospects).

I'm on board with shipping out Vatanen. Defensemen have high value and I don't think he fits with the team long term. Oh and I love that Klebom trade from the Devils side, maybe Chiarelli would have considered it but he is no longer there. Maybe add a bit more like a 2nd and there's a chance it goes through.
