Won't work, the issue is girardi a buyout, if bought out his cap hit is 1.750 but in 2017-18 it becomes 2.75 then 2018-20 it raises again to 3.75 so if you sign Yandle for that much money, and you are that close to the ceiling next year you are going to run into trouble, because let's be honest no one is going to trade for glass unless we give up a draft pick. And even so, in 2017-18 Lindberg, Fast need re-newals and they will get at least 500 k upgrades and that pretty much uses up Glass's cap savings on top of that, when the expansion draft happens, the cap is predicted to decrease significantly putting massive pressure on the Rangers. Unfortunately buying him out is really the only option because of how poor his play has been but signing Yandle may be good next year but that's it, now a sign and trade that could definitely work.

Ranger fans should realize, that UFAs can sign with any team. Yandle doesn't have to sign with Rangers. All those high priced contracts, Nash, Lundqvist, Staal, Girardi, Stepan, the Rangers do not special exemption from the the cap rules. It's the same other teams too.
