Description

Minor Deadline addition in McQuaid. But serves a purpose in giving the Leafs a Heavier player that can push back and play physical in the playoffs. With the impactful forward rental price being astronomical this year none of the guys that suit our needs are in our range. So this is the next best thing. It relegates Hainsey to the extra guy but that’s a good problem to have on a playoff team.

Constructive comments on trade vale and thoughts. I have a hard time putting Value on McQuaid as he is not a true top end defender as he lacks some speed and puck moving ability but I also feel like he is a solid top 4 and a big presence defensively and I feel he makes the perfect partner for Rielly. He is a rental in a market where the rentals d market is not on huge supply. But at the same time still a rental which I think is all the Leafs would look at him for.

I think he would. It is clear that Babcock is not
a fan of Rielly on his off side as he has already gone back to Hainsey more times than not. I prefer McQuaid as the stay at home guy with Rielly and Muzzin giving Zaitsev a bit of a security blanket. It is a stronger lineup than Muzzin Rielly and Gardiner McQuaid. Much more balanced
