Because it makes total sense for them as they get a guy under contract which they need, a guy that replaces what Panarin did, they don't loose Panarin for nothing and they get added Defense depth from a player who knows the division plus they get another strong and proven forward. What the Penguins get is a younger Kessel who can play the LEFT side and on the power play. Plus the Panarin and the Penguins can come to terms with a contract that works for both parties and it allows the Penguins to shed a huge amount of salary in that of Maatta 4.083Mil and Pearson 3.75mil = 7,833,000 in CAP SPACE that we gain which some can be used to sign Panarin longterm and it will give us availability to pay Jake Guentzel when his contract kicks in next season and beyond.
