So why does Carolina want zaitsev?

Of the 300 laughably bad pesce trades, this might be the worst

kap + for pesce makes sense, and if you view zaitsev as a positive asset (jury is still out there), then Zaitsev for ferland could make sense because of control.

I think that's the line of thinking but still dont see it happening because the value just isnt there.

Maybe you should check their roster first... after this trade they Have 4 nhl starter RHD...

um what? little bit of an unnecessary attitude in that response, so maybe check the attitude at the door, and restart

1. I said the value isnt there for carolina - i'm assuming everyone is on the same page here. Even as a leafs fan, i can see it's not there.

2. I was just trying to explain the line of thinking on how the trade might make sense - a big upgrade in terms of age and control at forward, for a downgrade on D, with the picks tossed in for a rental.

3. how is the number of RHD your primary concern in this trade, because it's the exact same number as before the trade. Nothing really changes in terms of positional options for either team (1RW & 1RD for 1RW & 1RD). Your argument would have made a lot more sense when the hanifin/hamilton swap happened, at least then youre changing the number of RHD on the team. Not changing the # on the team simply means, ya maybe they would prefer a LHD in a trade, but at that point if youre that concerned about it, you probably just flip the least valuable (TVR). I would have understood if you said "cuz Zaitsev is trash", which i kind of covered anyways in the part about him being a positive asset up for debate, but the number RHD being your primary concern when it doesnt even change and giving attitude about it like it's the most obvious thing in the world....is just completely and utterly mind boggling.
