I am saying the oilers probably still want to give holloway and broberg another season since they will be cheap. I see them moving ceci or kulak to make room for broberg to actually play.
here from the nhl (duplicated on almost every major media outlet) 87.7M I believe it is written into the CBA how high the cap can go in 1 season and this would be the max as 87.7

you forgot bonus carry over.
I also dont think the oilers would entertain the ARZ trade.
also cap is supposed to be around 87.7

Jesus. Oilers fans are starting to be worse than Habs fans and even most Leafs fans. 🤦🏻♂️</div></div>
If you go the 2021-22 season when he was hurt the PP% and PK% dropped drastically when he was injured. But yes I am joking to point out how silly your point was with marner. has 0 to due with their value. Dri is vastly more valuable multi 50 goal season. 100points year over year. takes every important draw. centerman art ross and hart and ted lindsey winner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>Toronto hasn’t played with Marner in the lineup since March 7 and their PP is ranked 30th since then as is this PK.. both units that Marner plays on the top unit on. That’s why Marner is more valuable. If Draisaitl gets injured, Edmonton has McDavid to keep pushing the offence. When Toronto loses Marner, they don’t have anyone capable of putting up 90-100 points while still playing top PP minutes (while being the QB on a top 5 ranked PP) and still playing top PK minutes.</div></div>
interesting. so the same thing happens when RNH is out of the oilers line up... does that make RNH more valuable than Dri or mcdaivd? if so I like your trade but will swap RNH for DRi to be your number 2C as he is clearly the most valuable do to that!!!

& yes they did try to trade him. I can’t remember exactly who it was, I think it was Frank Servalli that reported it but coulda been someone else, but it was reported that Edmonton was looking at moving Ceci but the players told Holland that they didn’t want Ceci traded so Holland didn’t pull the trigger.
But keep believing that he’s a top 4 guy. That’s the funniest take I’ve read on here. ✌🏻</div></div>
when you play top 4 minutes on a contending team its not an accident. Ceci is a top 4 dman on most teams in this league and is certainly not a cap dump.
yes they might have been willing to trade him for a better dman that does not mean hes not a top 4 dman. just means they might have been able to get a better player in return.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dominikb7044</b></div><div>Oilers likely would do it.</div></div>
oilers would likely not do this trade. Skinner and jarry are pretty similar statistically and i See skinner with a higher ceiling. so its not really improving the oilers while adding more in cap and giving away assets.
The oilers simply buy out campbell it is a very frendly buy out. get an affordable back up and use those picks to add at deadline next year for another run.

TRYING to have a quick turn around
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>EDM retaining 2.5mil on Campbell defeats the purpose of trading him as his buyout is either less than 2.5mil or slightly above (in year 3). The only thing they'd save is the 1.5mil for 3 years at the end which, in the grand scheme of things, is pretty minimal. On top of that, you have them making said trade in order to acquire a goalie that they don't really need (unless you don't trust Skinner after his performance so far). The trade simply makes no sense for EDM.
Since I'm unclear on where you're drawing the line between cost to dump Campbell and cost to acquire Jarry, I'll refrain from commenting on the value.</div></div>
can't agree more as well as wasting assets and compounding the problem.
Buy out. accrue cap space over season use assets at deadline again.

I dont really think it has been a huge factor at all. The bigger issue was klefbom and LTIR where we could not accure cap space till this season that was the bigger issue.
neal buyout allowed us to sign hyman and extend RNH... seems like a very good deal to me.
This season with no LTIR we actually could accrue ad 5M player with out sending anyone out.

That would actually get them a bit of breathing room taking on elvis would keep them more cap strapped. There back up next year will probably be 1M or under with the buyout hit that only 2.5 against the cap vs elvis 5.4M cap hit.
only somewhat bigger contracts are foegele and henrique( if they want to keep him) additionally you will probably see kulak moved to make room for broberg clearing more cap. They will spend to the cap but have enough wiggle room

any unused cap space this year can be applied to any bonus overage. so aslong as they dont call any one up as of today they have. 1.890M you can subtract off any overage.

That is 3.6M if I remember correctly, so we would still have to do something here to get those in. Running a 20 man roster is not ideal for us either, due to possible injuries.
Doubt Kane waives to go to Nashville, and I don’t think Nashville values Broberg, Holloway, and Bourgault that highly to be big pieces in a trade.</div></div>
you are right here. however if the oilers cap stays the same to the end of the year it will be closer to 2M in bonus overages.

I never said he was the biggest bust. I will say long term IMO La loses the trade almost on Valardi alone. and the cap hit with byfield growth and 2M retain on provorov puts them in a tough tough spot where they will lose more talent because of that trade.
