If flames miss the playoffs should Gaudreau be traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sebybbq</b></div><div>And what do Calgary have to offer that would be interesting enough for Florida to listen to that offer? I mean Gaudreau is a really good players but Barkov is a big two way center on a bargain deal and who is younger. Florida would want monahan back with valimaki and rasmus Anderson. Maybe a first round pick with that. Player like barkov are not traded because no one would ever gave up half of a team to acquire them.</div></div>
He's definitely worth more than posted in this trade but you don't get another top centre, plus a projected top pairing defenceman, plus another top 4 defenceman, plus a 1st for him. What you trade a centre like Barkov for is pieces that give you more depth to your roster. He may not be instantly replaceable in one player but you can get proper value to push forward in your rebuild. A 5 year rebuild means Barkov won't fit in when you're done. So take the trade throw in a 1st and maybe another prospect and maybe that'll work. But the flames don't dismantle the team to get him. Barkov isn't Eichel so you have to be careful not to over value him.

He may be worth a bit more than that but I'd actually get behind a trade for Barkov. Gives the flames options to move players between centre and wing. Better 1-2 punch at centre than we have now. Could keep Monahan at centre and put Lindholm at wing to maximize his scoring potential or vice versa. If be prepared to give up a bit more for Barkov

2020 Stanley Cup Champions
I can't speak for the value as I don't know the players from Detroit very well. But I like the players coming in. Manta can score and has size. Svechnikov is 23 and could possibly be kn the verge of being called a bust and/or he may not be part of the rebuild plans. McIlrath is the same and could be a good depth addition

Hanifin is worth more than that. I like Kapanen but you don't give up a 23 year old defenceman with a ton of upside for a mid 6 winger

I don't mind Bennett ckmkng here I'm a flames fan too so I'd love to see him on Pittsburgh. I think he'd do well and maybe get his scoring touch back.
I agree that's a bit much for rakell but he could be worth it if he finds chemistry on our top 2 lines. Would be nice to get a guy that will fit in and allow players to go back to the place in the lineup they're best suited for.
Greene I'm also indifferent to. Someone a while back mentioned hainsey and while he may be old too at least he knows the system. But you have to wonder if he's lost a step. Would be good to have 8 solid defensemen for the playoffs

I wouldn't do any of these trades. I will also admit there's players in there I know nothing about but to me that means we probably don't need them.
Also, why would both sides of the Edmonton trade retain salary....? Lol

They won't trade a guy because the fans think they should. Most fans are idiots lol. He's 23 and he's going to be good. The team as a whole has been bad just look at the goal differential. If you listen to all the rumours we'll be rid of Hanifin, Hamonic, Brodie, and kylington and not have anyone left to play defence...

Other than the whole Brodie NTC thing I like the trade. But I don't believe the flames would pay that much as they most like wouldn't pay Barrie what he wants unless he magically learns to play defence

God I hope not unless Brodie is gone. He's gotten a bit better but the flames can't have two defensive liabilities on the back end... And I like Hamonic so I hope he re-signs

I think he will be resigned in Calgary and Hamoic will be the one gone.</div></div>
I don't think Brodie will be back unless it's with a paycut and even then he's lacking defensively. Hamonic however I can see being brought back on a short contract 3 years at the most so he's able to be traded.
I like Kapanen and that deal would be great but if that's Brodies stance I guess it won't happen.... Lol
