<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Tell me more about how "If you want to win you sign a fair deal at market value"? McDavid-hasn't won. I'm pretty confident that he hasn't even made it out of the first round? Tavares-hasn't won. Also hasn't had much success in the playoffs. Eichel, same. Aho, same. Rantanen, same, though this year could be the one.

I don't know, I could be completely wrong, but long-term, what does "hurting the team" have to do with someone being paid what they think they're value is? If my boss comes in to talk about renewing my contract, why would I ever consider taking a discount without asking for the moon first?

Consider the fact that these guys are play for the first three years of their careers at a fraction of their actual value, and then spend the next 3-4 years having their contracts restricted by arbitration. They're tied to one team unless that team decides to trade them to another. Why the heck would they be overly concerned about "hurting the team"? Because they *might* have a shot to win? Screw that. If I'm Matthews, Marner, Tavares or Nylander, the amount that I'm paid has absolutely nothing to do with the contract I've signed. All 4 of these guys have performed extremely well since they were signed.

If there's anyone to blame, it's the group at the top who says "Sign here".</div></div>

look at boston. they are a great example. Oilers went to the WCF i believe. look at thw Hawks when they won their cups.... players got paid after they won.. there actually a lot of examples.. players should get paid after they win ... makes the most sense.
