I dont understand the talk of Littles contract being bad. Hes had over 40 points in 6 consecutive seasons playing 2nd/3rd line. The market for 2-way centers who can score at that rate is incredibly high (Kevin Hayes just signed for OVER 7 million and has similar year over year numbers to Little, if not slightly worse.) They are in a tough spot that can easily be fixed because they have NO cap-draining players who provide little value, other than perhaps Kulikov, who is a decent 5-6 D in his own right.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Talking_Senators</b></div><div>Hmm, don't know about that. Think you should check your sources man. Copp has a 3rd-4th line ceiling. Anderson is worth more than what you've posted, plain and simple. Pretty sure anyone will tell you that.
Florida is trying to shed salary, not add some. Marleau just got dumped and it took a 1st to get it done. Look at the market.</div></div>
Completely different situation. Marleau needed to go to relieve Cap for Marner/Johnsson/Kapanen, and is 39 years old making almost 7 million. Of course it would take a lot to move him. Florida is not trying to shed cap, plain and simple. They are trying to land pricey free agents and gear up a playoff team to play for Quenville. And of course Copp is a 3-4th liner, no one suggested otherwise. But rest assured Roslovic has more long-term value than Anderson, and with one year left before a pay-day, Columbus, who have to completely rebuild, will likely take two good players, one of whom has a very high potential, in order to save money in the long term and retool.

Roslovics offensive upside alone is projected to be much higher than Andersons, but I dont see a clear position for him to move up the lineup in Winnipeg. Copp is good but will also be stuck in a fourth line role. This trade adds a big tough player in Anderson and could provide a fresh look for all players involved.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Talking_Senators</b></div><div>No offense bro, but these trades are just not good enough. Anderson just scored 27 goals and is worth much more than a 3rd line RFA and Roslovic, who hasn't proved anything so far. & no team is ever going to take 4.333 mil just to upgrade a 7th to a 6th. It just doesn't work that way.</div></div>
Jackets are going to need depth center, and Roslovic is a Columbus native who they are incredibly high on. In fact, Roslovic for Anderson was close to happening at the trade deadline straight up. Adding in Copp, coming off of back to back 25+ point seasons playing fourth line, and a draft pick would be a great trade for Columbus.
Florida has a need for defenseman and would have no problem taking a serviceable D for 4 Mill for one season, especially if they are going to gear up and land other UFAs (panarin, bobrovsky, etc.)

it would take closer to a 30%-40% retention on seabrook's contract in order for any team to jump at him. As a 34 year old D, he does bring leadership and knows what it takes to go deep and win championships, but his best days are certainly behind him.

New lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arafay</b></div><div>Kulikov is playing too well to be taken out. Beaulieu is 7th for now imo. Also JoMo and Trouba are not being split up.
I don’t see the point in getting kislevich. We have a lot of other players for the moose including samberg, vesalainen, virtanen and maybe even Chisholm and gawanke once their respective seasons are over. Waste of a pick imo.
Chevy also did not trade petan well. He could have maybe added a pick and got another player who needs a change of scenery like Madison bowey (I know he just got to Detroit) or Haydn fleury (no need for beaulieu). But I am sure he tried. Though lindholm is a good acquisition but I don’t see why we got both him and Hendricks.
The problem I have is that Chevy spent too much on depth. I know Depth is needed for the playoffs but come on - this is overdoing it by a player or two. Still happy with what Chevy did though (except for trading Lemieux - but you have to lose to get)</div></div>
With Kulikov prone to injury, Morrow and Morrissey on the shelf, and Byfuglien injured too, it was simply an attempt to add cheap depth, which is a luxury in playoffs!

Jets Trade Deadline - Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>The Jets are an organization due to geographic location are always going to have to play the long game, trading a future 2C for a 3rd line RW would be pretty stupid. I'm not basing this off of one good week in basing it off the fact Roslovic is really skilled, was drafted as and has played C at both the AHL and NHL level.
Also the Stastny effect on Laine, how much of that so called explosion as you put it was powerplay goals for Laine? I think the Stastny deal was okay for the Jets but they would've been smarter to trade for someone with term, was cool to have a Stastny in a Jets uniform but his effect on Laine in my opinion was really overblown.</div></div>
Stastny was also on the first powerplay unit, which also picked up upon his arrival, so I would say he positively affected Laine both even stength and on the PP.

Actually like these trades. Get a good price to bring in Duncan Keith and dump Kulikov. I can see Blackhawks taking this trade in a move to free up some cap space and start the rebuild with picks and prospects to replace their aging core. I think its a bit of a stretch that the Jets would actually make a move for this trade though. Price for Duchene seems fair

Jets Trade Deadline - Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Well if Adam Lowry is your 2nd line center you're not a cup contender, period. The 2nd line has never been centered by Roslovic, it's always been centered by Little but the problem with the 2nd line is entirely because of Laine's struggles not who's centering it.
I'm not convinced that the Jets need a 2C but they are gonna need a replacement for Little in 2-3 years and Roslovic is that replacement, trading him now would be so so dumb.
Who do you want to trade next season to get that 2C that everyone thinks the Jets need? Connor?Ehlers?</div></div>
The Jets certainly need a 2C, and Laine's struggles are certainly a product of that missing piece. Do you think it was just coincidental that Laine exploded and had an incredible 2 months last season following the arrival of Stastny on his line? Laine is not a player who creates opportunities for himself - he feeds off of high hockey IQ players who play a game that opens him up and gives him high quality scoring chances, so you should be entirely convinced that the Jets need a 2C this season. Worst case, the Jets have the EXACT same center core next season as they do this season (Scheif, Little, Lowry, whoever,) even if they trade Rosy so I don''t see a big problem. Don't think trading one player who has had one good week in the NHL is going to cause a catastrophic collapse of the Jets. Not to mention the addition of Anderson will buy another year of a cheap contract for a good player.

I disagree. You are acting like it would be a trade for a random player. If you happened to watch the Jets v Columbus game last week, you'd have noticed Anderson was possibly the best player on the ice. Scored a goal and played a very good possession game. He also kills penalties and is a big, fast body. Lets not forget, he isn't a rental. He is on an incredibly friendly contract that has another year of term on it after this season. Solidifies best right wing lineup in the league for the jets and buys them a solid player who can play up and down the lineup for a minimum. If you don't think that he'd bring more to the Jets this season and postseason, I just cannot agree with that. If the Jets could get anderson for someone like Kulikov and petan, I'd certainly prefer that, though!

Depth Depth Depth. Consider this, Jets trade for a 2C like Hayes at the deadline. Centers become Scheifele (1C) Hayes (2C) Lowry (3C) and Copp/Little 4C. For the playoffs, the only available position for Rosy would be 3RW (unless Little is there, which is likley because I don't see him playing on the fourth Line.) With Wheeler, Laine, Little, Tanev on the right side and Ehlers, Connor, Perreault, on the left side, where is he going to play? 4LW? Why not allow the trade to happen, giving us a solid 4 centers who all have distinct roles, and a very very solid top 9 that will arguably be the best top 9 in the league. Think about the playoff potential for a 3rd line of Perreault, Lowry, Anderson. That is a matchup nightmare for any team. Even the fourth line of Copp Tanev and Lemieux would be an effective fourth line.
I understand his appeal and understand that centers are a premium in this league, but so are stanley cups.

Jets Trade Deadline - Realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Copp and Lowry will never have the offensive abilities to be a 2C like Roslovic has, trading Roslovic would set the team back a decade.</div></div>
This seams to be a bit of a stretch. Prior to the last 4 games, Roslovic had scored 2 goals this season. I guarentee you had he not scored a hat trick last game, people would be on here commenting that Columbus wouldn't even take this trade, and instead its the other way around. I understand he has high potential. I just worry about the Jets heading into the playoffs with a 22 year old centering their second line.
Things to consider -
- The second line has been wildly inconsistent with Roslovic centering them. Apart from Roslovics powerplay goals, the second line has been getting dominated 5 v 5. Laine slumping indicates the need for a more veteran center (ideally left-handed) like Stastny last year who could play a solid game and help generate consistent good play/offense.
- The Jets recognize this is their window. This year more than any other, I would expect Chevy to be willing to move 1 or 2 pieces that he wouldn't otherwise want to move in order to bolster up the roster.
- Playoffs are a different animal. Anderson plays a heavy, skilled game and would be able to play a very important role on our third line with Perreault and Lowry to become a game changer in the playoffs.
Sure, the Jets lose the would be #2 center going forward, but if its for a cup, I don't see a problem. With the impending cap situation headed into next year, Chevy will have to get creative anyways and shift some pieces around.
Do I want Roslovic to go? Absolutely not! But if thats what it takes, maybe its worth it.

They should trade Vesalainen before Roslovic but ideally just stand pat and don't trade either.</div></div>
Not saying I would be a huge fan of parting with Roslovic, but I think it would benefit the team this season. Its hard to determine where the exact balance is, but I can definitely see Anderson being a more solid contributor in many ways during the playoffs. Just my opinion. Don't think it'll happen, but I can see reason for Chevy deciding to take either route.

They are going to push for (although they may not get) Vesalainen or Roslovic and there really is no reason not to push for them. Especially since Nashville is also in on him, I foresee a bidding war before the deadline.</div></div>
Good point! I could easily see those players being replaced with Samberg and Lemieux. Unfortunately, if the Rangers think they will get a first round pick AND a first round prospect (roslovic or vesalainen) they are going to be disappointed with what they are offered at the deadline. For a rental, picks and lower-tier prospects are what they're gonna get. Hayes is a solid 2C, but lets be honest here, he isn't going to fetch the same return "elite" rentals (Panarin) would get, which would include high end prospects.

A big no-no for who? Columbus is in severe need of young talented centers. Roslovic, last weeks NHL first star of the week, is clearly every bit of that, but in reality the Jets are in a prime position for a cup run this season and would have to slot Roslovic down to the 3rd or 4th line if they get a 2C. Adding a big, strong power forward like Anderson would be ideal, even if it means giving up a good young talent in Roslovic. I guarantee you once Columbus parts ways with Bobrovsky and Panarin, they will accept the trade for the future. Also, Roslovic is from Columbus. Win, win for both teams. Columbus gets a young home town center who looks to be developing into a top 6 forward. Jets add size and depth along the right side and open up a spot for a 2C like Hayes, Staal, Johansson, etc.

Always with the Trouba deals
Tampa has too much invested in their current D-core to even consider adding another $5.5 million a year (and probably more, if he chooses to resign.) Given that they only realistically have about a 1 year window to make moves while they have some good ELC's, i think that them adding another long term contract would force them to start moving out other D men, including Sergachev. Don't think Tampa could be the landing destination for Trouba.
