No problem. Keep your mediocre bottom sixer. His trade value now has nothing to do with his, laughable now, draft position then.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zmach</b></div><div>Nuge would be a better signing than hall. You trade nurse and you are asking for trouble. I think you are more likely to trade jones in that situation. Get rid of turris and put in McLeod or haas.</div></div>
I'm a Leafs fan that has a soft spot for the Oilers. I'll defer to their hardcore fans.
I like RNH, but Hall has proven he can drive a line if needed. RNH has never proven that. I just don't see him being worth any kind of a raise. I'd rather two $4M wingers in the top six than give RNH $8M. You'd know better than me about what the talk is for resigning RNH.
I see Nurse has a decent enough D-man, but certainly not a #1. I'd try a lot of different options, as you say maybe Jones, to see if I could get Seattle to take the final two seasons of Neal's cap hit. 97 and 29 are in their prime right now, two more seasons of Neal is wasted money for the depth this team needs.
I would use a significant amount of the expiring contracts to take a run at an established #1. Maybe even Rask?
Like I say, I'll defer to you. I made this basically to show a buddy that's a big Oiler fan that there's reason for some hope! :)

Next year changes take 2
Since the Oilers finally have some cap relief coming this off-season, I think they'd be better off making a run at Blake Coleman in free agency rather than deal for Brown. Coleman is due for a significant raise, but even doubling his salary would be the same as Brown's without giving up anything. I'd love it if the Leafs had room for him. He's got speed to burn, could definitely play on 97's line.

PLD value is dropping because of Torts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Look I get you are a BJ fan but do you honestly think that a player leaving in FA is the same as an RFA wanting out and creating drama around the locker room? Even my 12 year old knows how to negotiate. No GM is ever going to give fair market value for a guy that is looking more and more like a locker room cancer. The fact that you don't have a legitimate arguement for why any GM would pay top dollar for a guy who not only wants out but is also 1. Not showing any passion on the ice and 2. Has been benched twice in 5 games is mind boggling. Rival GM's are not there to make Jarmo look good or help him win a trade they are there to get the best players available for the best price they can and they will use EVERY situation to drive the price down. It's like buying a house, If you want 500 000 and the roof needs repair I won't give you 500k I will offer 480k instead citing the repairs needed. It's called negotiations for a reason buddy. Learn it love it move on.</div></div>
The fact that you think I'm a Jacket's fan, when my avatar is on full display, reinforces everything I've established about your abilities to correctly read and judge situations. And I've been letting it slide, but your continued use of straw man arguments needs to be addressed.
I said that getting benched by Torts would have zero impact on PLD's value. FULL STOP. The fact he had asked for a trade prior is already baked into the cake. I also made the statement without opining on hypothetical what if's that may happen down the road. So, to make it as concise as possible, his trade value did not diminish from puck drop to the final siren.
Also, I did not A) Say that Panarin or Bob was traded nor B) That a UFA signing is the same thing as a trade. I am, however, guilty of using nuance to discuss the two situations.

PLD value is dropping because of Torts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>The key words in this situation is TRADE VALUE not contract value!!! A FA is available to sign wherever they want meaning that only certain teams will be in on them and they LITERALLY have to give up NOTHING in return! You are comparing a trade to a FA signing which is rediculous. A FA letting the world know that they don't want to stay where they are doesn't decrease their value because the receiving team doesn't have anything to lose. They just have to be willing to pay the player without giving up any assets. A player under contract or RFA's do not have the luxury of signing anywhere and by requesting a trade let's it be known that they are not happy. That alone decreases the leverage of that players own GM. Then when licker room conflicts become public it further weakens the GM's bargaining position as other GM's will try to low ball them just like any hockey fan on this site. It's called negotiations not give me what I want for a reason! You are a fool if you think otherwise.</div></div>
I'm not sure if you're 10 years old or just significantly challenged? Maybe both.
Agree to disagree.

What's ridiculous is me continuing to converse with someone incapable of viewing things on any other level than the most simplistic plane. I mentioned both Panarin and Bob to establish a pattern of players not wanting to either A) live in Columbus and/or B) Play for that organization. Of course, neither was traded (although both signaled early their wish to move on). Both were given huge contracts, both dollar-wise and term. That signifies their public stance on not playing in Columbus was not a concern around the league.
Again, if in your little world him being benched just knocked his value down - we can agree to disagree.

PLD value is dropping because of Torts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>It is not unique. Many players have demanded trades many have been benched rightfully or wrongfully. Tonight PLD definitely deserved to be benched. The other day though vs Detroit was uncalled for. I agree with Yikes here that both parties at fault for their part in the benching. Obviously there is something going on behind the scenes that needs to get resolved quickly or Columbus may be on the outside looking in come playoff time or even worse other players may start to request trades out of Columbus. Imagine if this goes on for another 2 weeks let alone months. Players will start to take sides if they already haven't it's just human nature. Imagine if Weirenski and Savard take PLD's side and Atkinson and Jones take Tortz side there could be a huge locker room blowup with multiple players just wanting out of the entire situation.</div></div>
He's not the first player to publicly announce he didn't want to play in Columbus. I don't think it hurt Panarin or Bob's demand or value. And he's certainly not the first player to butt heads with Torts. If he was a player demanding a trade out of Tampa or something, I could see it raising eyebrows. Columbus could send him home until they can work out a deal and I don't believe it would factor into his trade value.

1. For being viewed as a problem
Or
2. Because the rival GM's get even more leverage in a trade.
Like Yikes said above though it is the fault of both PLD and Tortz. But the results are the same. If Jarmo wanted to get let's say KK + Norlinder + 1st you can bet after the last week he is starting to how this is creeping into his dressing room and will consider much lower offers now just to end the whole debacle.</div></div>
Actually, I totally disagree with your simplistic blanket analysis of a unique and individual circumstance. I guess we can agree to disagree.

Or if you want you can just be ignorant. Also what does his draft position from 10 years ago have to do with anything, I guess Corey Perry or Pasternak were never worth a damn as well</div></div>
Except, literally, 69 points in 77 games isn't close to a point per game. And that was by far his best season. His draft position is only relevant to establish he wasn't some elite prospect that still might take the next step. Nine years in, he is what he is. Not that we need to move any of them. This is awful for Toronto. You don't give away your best player, a top 23-year old top 5 center, for that.</div></div>
Not only did Dubas give a 27-year-old Tavares a 7 year deal at $11M per, but he also gave him a full no movement. I believe Matthews would be in far greater demand than Marner. I also mentioned that I believe it will be easier to resign Marner. It is not out of the realm that Matthews, an American, may elect to play closer to home. His insistence on signing a shorter deal, becoming a UFA quicker, certainly doesn't alleviate that concern.
Whether Arizona would add more to that is possible. There are two highly touted prospects. A goalie, under contract, that seems to have put it together. And a physical former first-round player.
