at least liljegren is back lol
liljegren is garbage and plenty defenseman for 3M/yr a lot better than him but I always say this is the GM that did the huberdaeu deal, lost tkachuk and gaudreau.

st louis isnt bad with thomas, kyrou, saad, schenn but adding marner with all that fire power would help, krug stays healthy, faulk and parayko play up to par then they could at least get past nashville or even beat out the kings and get into the playoffs maybe...with marner!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AlliDOisBleedBlue</b></div><div>I’d take this deal, I don’t think Toronto would do it. I think Binnington wants to be Torontos goalie savior and I’d risk only having Marner for a year if this is all it cost to acquire him. Worst case scenario we sell Marner and Buch at the deadline. Best case scenario he’s a fit and wants to stay. I also don’t think we need a goalie in return. I’d be happy to promote from within and draft new goalies.</div></div>
I would put money on st louis making the playoffs next year I think they are only a top guy away from doing it and I mean a top younger guy not tarasenko or giroux type guy.

Don't know why Marner would waive to a non playoff team in his contract year. Blues are taking on 5m more cap, for a rental.</div></div>
if tanev signs 3-4 mil i dont think he gets more than 1 or 2 years
st louis could get in just like nashville did they are probably looking to add a big name and it's known as a great place to play.
kyrou and thomas are from toronto areas like marner and very good players.

go Guentz them
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Yeah but offense isn't the problem. Believe it or not adding more offense doesn't fix defense and goaltending. I know add more offense Dubas's answer to everything, but he isn't in Toronto anymore for a reason. You said "even as a rental it's a beautiful pickup." So does the addition of Guentzel get Detroit a cup this year? If it doesn't then the Wings are just throwing away assets for a player that won't be on the roster nest season.
There are a lot of people who think the rebuild is over and the Wings should go out and spend assets because they are in the playoffs, but I disagree. The only correct way to rebuild is through the draft and developing players through your system is the best way to ensure sustained success. Detroit currently has 2 players drafted by Yzerman and only 5 players total that were drafted by Detroit on their roster. With the way Detroit has played this season I think they have opened their playoff window. Now adding big names for futures will increase are chances to win now but they will shorten how long that window stays open. One of the main reasons Detroit's rebuild has taken so long is they tried to keep that window open for too long. So they had almost nothing left in their system and have had to replenish the system before they could start rebuilding their team. I've noticed a lot of users on this site either don't have the patients, are incapable of looking past the next 2 seasons or just don't understand how the whole process works. But at this point is another season or 2 that bad when it could add another 10 seasons of being competitive?</div></div>
I think snagging Hanifin would be beautiful and adress the biggest need yet I also believe this wings team finally finding their way is beautiful because I think they have a great group including young guys that aren't I the lineup, they have money and they have picks I mean Yzerman is becoming the best hockey mind to ever exist but maybe just getting the best player is a move to make and putting guentzal in there to join the group that's there is nice....this team being healthy for once and confident to add to their abilities is so dangerous sprong and this year's additions have added a veteran spark...dark horse in the league

it's relative to the team don't forget just because he is the leafs #4 where does that land him in Montreal and as an overall he is just a valuable prospect but the Leafs current #4 prospect will probably not see any nhl time for the next 3 years also...if I had to debate your statement that's what I'm thinking either way monahan and barrie these are my guys I'm looking at barrie over dumba right now even bring tyson back in I say.

Woll looks good, and Hildeby sure has potential. He's played successfully in the SHL and looks good in the AHL.
Maybe just by the odds......maybe it's time the Leafs do get a home grown good NHL goalie or two. Of course odds were the Leafs would have one a Cup since 1967.</div></div>
22 year old 6'7" goalie the fact that he is playing solid pro hockey means he has potential to turn into a regular nhler no guarantees just might be good odds to roll the dice with the state of all goalies lately and the way some guys have come out of nowhere to be great the leafs might just strike gold and hildeby just feels get and turns into a great young star....it's a pipe dream but it would be cool...for once in Toronto it would be nice

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GreatWhiteNorth</b></div><div>Nylander isn’t getting over $10M in Toronto.
Cowan and Minten aren’t making the roster next season - they’re CHL and AHL bound respectively.
Hildeby won’t be the backup next year. He’s had a strong stretch in his AHL start and may deserve a shot at the NHL for a call up, but Toronto will look for a veteran backup that’s capable of playing more games because Woll is too injury prone to be a starter and they won’t rely on such a young tandem when they’re trying to compete.</div></div>
if it's not in Toronto (which I'm sure it is) he will get $10M I think it's easier knowing Klinger and probably bertuzzi won't be resigned there either...probably not samsonov either.
