He's been on the 3rd line practically all year. And it is time to trade him. $5mil 3rd line forward is way to much. Not saying he isn't a top 6 cuz he is. Just not meshing with 87 or 71.

I will gladly take Gagner and Jesse for Bjugs!!! Not sure what that does for the Pens cap but for me Gagner>Bjugs

I felt like is was about $1mil to high and definitely 2-3 years to long. Like $2.5mil for 4 years make more sense for a guy who everyone sees as a bottom six player. But maybe he'll be the shocker this year and by Xmas we'll all be screaming what a genus GMJR is :laugh

For me, Carolina is an interesting team. It could go either way. I think they'll either be really good and get 3rd divisonal/1st Wild Card or they'll miss by a long shot.</div></div>
I think the Devils could surprise a lot pf people this year. Philly and Carolina are on the bubble and I think you're right about who misses. Pens just don't have enough to say that they are 100% in the playoffs this year. it's more like 60% maybe 70%

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bigZ98</b></div><div>Exactly, when players like simon, ZAR, blueger etc. are on boderline being scratched you clearly have great depth to fill your bottom 6</div></div>
Our bottom six does have decent depth....the problem is our top 6 doesn't. If anyone goes down for any length of time, there goes the offense. And needing a bottom 2 pair of defenders a week before the season starts is NOT where a team should be. The Pens would be better off trying to bury JJ and Guds (if the can't trade them) and starting some youngsters like POJ and Addison. Neither of which are ready for the NHL, but if your Defense is going to be bad with JJ and Guds who can not improve......might as well be bad with young guys who can get better

This is sort of to my point.....GMJR has handcuffed himself to where he couldn't make any moves to make the team better. He even stated that he was trying all summer to make a trade and the market wasn't there. It still isn't. the Pens are stuck with JJ and Guds (and now Tanev) til their contracts are up and that really hinders the Pens to be a contender IMO.

Caps, Devils, Islanders, Canes (maybe).....the Pens just haven't improved this off-season. In fact, the may have gotten worst since last years TDL. Not saying in impossible, just don't see the potential like I usually do. Believe me, I HOPE I'm wrong.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>How a preseason roster should look.
It's nice to see them giving Angelo a good look and Addison a 1st pair role.
But that 3rd pairing is the one to keep an eye on. I think they will be on the main club next year.
if Angelo has a break out year, Jugs could be gone.
Jugs, JJ, and Horny all got for sale signs on them depending on how this year goes.
Cap space has to come from some where. But you need replacements first.
Jugs I think is an easy move, only 2 years on that deal and teams need centers.
JJ is more of a pain in the butt but there are options.
Horny, might be the Seattle move unless he has a bounce back year.</div></div>
Yea I'm not positive about the line combos. Just taking a guess here. I like how Bjugs and Horny are working well together in scrimmages. That's at least a positive thing I hope. Looks like lines to start are gonna be
Guentzel, Crosby, Kahun
Tanev, Malkin, Gally
Rust, Bjugs, Horny
Simon, McCann, ZAR
Dums, Letang
JJ, Schultz
Petts, Guds
I would expect the Defense and the wingers to be shuffled most of the year unless a line catches fire.

How much do you think Matt Murray will get in his next contract
north of $8/mil I'd guess. If Bob can get $10/season not having won a cup.....Murray should easily be over $8mil even with some injury issues.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jeuck75</b></div><div>Trade Matt Murray!!</div></div>
Problem with that is then the Pens are left with no starter. Desmith and Jarry had their chance last year when Murray got hurt and neither could handle the workload. And although you got goalies like Anderson, Lehner, and even Holtby as free agents next off-season....the odds of getting any elite goalie is slim. 1 - Pens won't have the cap space, 2 - most teams will let a player or 2 walk before an elite goalie unless they have one waiting in the wings.

I like it but I think Hornqvist and Schultz go to Minn for Zucker and Bjugs goes to Buff. The Sabres are in desperate need of a 2nd line center. Not sure Ana goes for that trade without a higher pick or prospect but the return I like. Also I would change up the lines a little. ZAR is better on the wing so I'd move McCann there and would probably have Rust on the 3rd and Kahun with Crosby.....at least to start.

Anyone else see an issue here
The bigger issue I feel is Murray......He's gonna want $8-$10mil/season (especially if he has a rebound year). That's going to handcuff the Pens hard next off-season. And with no other goalies in the pipeline that are ready to be the next starter.....the Pens have no options. But I think Gally stays, Schultz gets traded by the deadline unless the Pens are in a top 3 of the conference position (which I doubt). JJ gets moved before this season starts I hope. Rust, Hornqvist, and Bjugs are all on the move this season or next off-season unless all have career years (doubtful). GMJR really made this team take a HUGH step backwards over the last couple of seasons.

Did Ray Shero Make Any Bad Trades In Pittsburgh
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrandonDubinskyGOAT</b></div><div>Yes but she also claimed that Crosby only does well against weak opposition, when he is matched against top defensive players, he struggles whereas Toews dominates. For example, throughout his career Crosby has been manhandled in possession and production against players like Bergeron, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Barkov and Stone. Toews is the opposite, he has excelled when being matched up against the likes of Kopitar, Bergeron, Getzlaf, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Backes and O’Reilly. Therefore Toews is far better than Crosby. Thoughts?</div></div>
Crosby 943 games played - 1,216 points....Towes 873 games played - 755 points. So by that Crosby clearly is the winner.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BrandonDubinskyGOAT</b></div><div>Recently <a href="/users/MadmanFromMadison" target="_blank">@MadmanFromMadison</a> was arguing with me on why she felt Toews is a better hockey player than Crosby. She brought up some interesting stats: In head to head matchups throughout their careers (14 games), Toews has 18 points and a plus 10 rating whereas Crosby has only 7 points and a -14 rating. What’d y’all think of this?</div></div>
I feel that both are guys you would want to start a franchise with....having said that, I personally feel that during the 5 years that Chicago was unbeatable, it's hard not to agree with these stats. But, I feel that Crosby has proven that he can make anyone on his line a superstar (Sheary, Rust, Simon, etc.) where as Toews hasn't had that kind of success with new linemates. When it was working, nothing could stop him. But when it wasn't, you barely noticed him on the ice ( at least from the hand full of Chicago games I watch per year). So in the battle of Sid or Toews, I would take Sid just cause by himself, he makes the team better.

and now NJ is LOADED and could make a serious run for the Metro. Still don't think they beat the Caps out but the way Pitt is right now, they'd be lucky to make the playoffs. Defense is horrible and that bottom six may be worse. SMH

not sure Hornqvist and a 2nd gets that kind of a return and if I were a GM I would never trade within my division unless it was absolutely necessary. A lot of teams might be interested in Bugs. And to be honest I actually like him. Other than that I like the way this team looks.
