Hayes fit better in the role of 4th line center than Hughes, and I don't think Hughes will be better than Larkin at that point. It's only a year away.

When you have a team with this much talent, highly skilled players are going to be asked to play different roles, and in this case I see the Tkachuk's filling the role of energy players better than players like Gaudreau, Boeser etc. Simply felt they fit better in those roles and other players fit better in other roles.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LucasVollmer09</b></div><div>Guentzel should be here for Hughes easily. He's not there yet. DeBrincat isn't on first line on this team. Swap him with Johnny Hockey. McAvoy would play in this scenario. Also, there is a better goalie out there than a backup in Demko. Also, swap Paccioretty for Hayes.</div></div>
Hughes was taken due to Marketability, and need for a Center. Play Debrincat with Kane. Felt like Petry is a better fit on the bottom pairing. Demko is the 3rd goalie behind Hellebuyck and Gibson. Pacioretty would have made the team if it weren't for lack of Centers, so Hayes was needed to fill the need for Centers.

Not over Larkin yet, and Hayes is a better fit on the 4th.

Felt like Debrincat is a better team fit, but I see what your saying. Miller as a 4C is something I didn't think of, but he hasn't played C in many years. Petry seemed like a better fit for that spot. If Guenzel makes the team I agree with that Debrincat takes wheelers spot.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>borekmark62</b></div><div>I simply chose Jones over Fox due to team fit.
Needed to keep another center over Guentzel and Pacioretty so I kept Hughes. Plus Team USA is known for taking their "Sweethearts" and Hughes seems to be one of those. Agree that Guentzel or Pacioretty deserve it but needed a center.</div></div>

Took Jones over Fox due to team fit.
Agree that Guentzel, and Pacioretty deserve it, but needed another Center so took Hughes. Plus Hughes is beginning to fall into the Team USA Sweetheart where he is a highly marketable player, and gets picked for a bunch of Team USA teams (i.e. NTDP, World Juniors as an under ager, and a World Championship Team in his Draft Year).
Hughes-McAvoy
Slavin-Carlson
Werenski-Petry
Fox
Agreed for the rest.</div></div>

Well I'm reffering to me saying this kid will be a Staal like player with more offense.

Buch and Strome are a coin flip.
I can totally see what you're saying about Nils, but from the outlook of Schneider's game he can be the shutdown DMAN that teams struggle to trade and/or sign for.
Robertson and Hajek is close to a coin flip too, simply gave the nod to Hajek because he's more polished.

Forgot all about that, but I think this kid will be a more consistent 20-30 pt guys while Staal never cracked 30.

I think DeAngelo can be better though. These rankings are supposed to represent potential peak.

NYR time to get younger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>firegmcphee</b></div><div>Kevin Shattenkirk for 6 years at $7.25M would seriously mess up any franchise. Hes been the Caps worst player in the postseason and cost them game 2 and maybe the series against the Pens. Maybe offer a 1-2 year deal so he can prove that hes good enough to justify the $. Otherwise the $ would be much better spent somewhere else.</div></div>
He will not be willing to take a 1-2 year deal. He is going to want stability as he is what 26,27 maybe 28 years old. And the money, he is going to be he biggest free agent besides maybe Tyler Johnson, so he is going to be able to demand a lot of money, and since it is free agency teams will over extend, something the rangers do very well. Examples, Redden, Staal, Girardi, richards, and the assets they gave up in the yandle and st, Louis trades were ridiculous.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>orignalsix</b></div><div>In effect a Shattenkirk for Stefan deal. I just think there are better ways to spend 7m a year besides Shattenkirk. Maybe not this summer but soon.</div></div>
The rangers are notorious for signing players specificallly defensemen to long high priced contracts (I.e. Girardi, Staal, and I believe Wade Redden), so I can see the rangers making that deal especially seeing how shattenkirk is a big name.

Vegas Golden Knights
My only opinion is that being a Rangers fan and hearing about how the Rangers front office is not happy with the production of Derek Stepan, I can see the Rangers leaving him to the Expansion draft or Michal Grabner, but I do not think the VGK will waste their pick on Annti Raanata when they have other better goalie options available.

The McDavid era
I have a few critiques:
Shattenkirk has already expressed interest of going to either Boston or NYR and it is believed that he is a lock to sign with one of the two.
I don't believe Steve Mason will take on 2 million and agree to backup Cam Talbot but, still possible.
The Oilers will not split up the McDavid-Eberle-Lucic line.
No draft pick will be involved in the Pouliout expansion draft selection.
Seeing how well the Preds defense and Ryan Ellis has been playing I am skeptical on if they will trade him. At least if they do Edmonton will have to give that up at the minimum.
