Who Do You Want To See Toronto Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsDude</b></div><div>McKay / Petruzelli / Woll are 3 very good goaltending prospects. Woll has looked good at the NHL level, McKay had a historic NCAA season, and Petruzelli has looked good too</div></div>
None of which have any significant NHL experience and where all over-looked for Kalgren who nobody had on the radar. These guys barely make back-up... not one of them is legitimate NHL starter.

Trade down, acquire a couple more picks and start focusing on goaltenders. The lack of a developed goaltender in our system is a problem.

Why A Nylander Trade makes no sense
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MapleLeafsfan2003</b></div><div>He's on a good contract, 6.9 million. fresh off an 80 point year. 34 goals. who are we going to replace him with? Takes the 2nd Center position when Johnny or Matty are out. There really is no other comparable for a Nylander replacement. Took Tampa and Washington Years to win a cup. the core should not be broken up. we have time. they're young. Leafs fans love blowing up the leafs every year.</div></div>
I totally agre. The only way I would trade him is if the return is substantial and must include a very high Draft pick, otherwise it's an astoundingly stupid idea to move him. I love Nylander, when he is "ON" he can change a game... when he's "off" it's frustrating and I understand why people get fed up with him. Yet he's never truly been "off" in the play-offs. If someone is going to bemoan his effort (sans food poisoning) in the first 2-3 games of the Tampa series, you have to bemoan every player on the team including Mathews and Marner who also disappeared at times. Nylander was a MONSTER in those last three games.
This guy protects the puck with his body like nobody I have seen since Jagr. If you cannot see this, you are either so biased your suffering from cortana or you just don't understand the game. He has the ability to break through the middle of the ice and defensive traps consistently, whereas everyone else just get's squeezed to the outside. Then there is his poise and patience. It may look like he doesn't care, but the reality is the guy is just stone cold. Getting emotional has it's place in the game, but losing your focus and allowing the other team to exploit your frustrations ie; Kadri, Marner... is a glaring weakness that has cost us in the past.
I've reached the conclusion that anyone who craps all over Nylander displays a pedestrian understanding of the game. They are driven by a desire for satisfaction at the cost of reality... or to put it another way - ask their girlfriend if they know the fundamentals of foreplay, or do they just go gunning for the main prize? It's a valid litmus test. :D

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING SPEZZA
My favorite Leaf of the last decade. So much so I went and got his Jersey.
Pure class.
But he'll be back. Fingers crossed that come trade deadline they reactivate a well rested veteran for a roster spot and another kick at the can. He still has gas in the can without being a liability.
It would also be an epic story for generations of Leafs fans to remember.

Just For Fun Dont Be A Pigeon And Rinse Me For Being A Fat Beauty
I have gamed out numerous fantasy Leaf teams over the years with Lawson Crouse. I love this guy and he's exactly what the team could use, so any armchair roster with him on it means your on the right track.
I don't like the Tavares trade to Seattle. As much as McCann got away from us (still have face palm bruises after that abysmal mess)... he doesn't improves 2nd centre from Tavares. Tavares is NOT the issue on our roster, it's his linemates. I just don't think he clicks consistently with Nylander and he has no Left Wing to compliment him. I'd lose the Nichuskin and Mikheyev signings, keep Nylander... try to acquire McCann and a winger (Garland?) to play alongside Tavares, move Nylander up to the 1st line left wing (Nylander Mathews Marner = devastation).
Paying Campbell over 4 mil/season is a fireable offense for any GM, he's not a proven 1st netminder, he's a tandem goaltender at most a 3.5 mil. Knies and Robertson are not NHL ready... and I don't see in Robertson what people keep touting, too small, too long to develop and no room on the roster for him to be effective, he's better as a trade piece.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>That doesn't even get you Miller, let alone Garland too</div></div>
A veteran forward... a depth forward... two legitimate prospects and a first round pick... If you think that this wouldn't even get you Miller than that only shows that Miller is way over-valued in your mind. It may certainly not be enough for both of them... but your just saying stuff. That is precisely the type of price it would cost to get Miller, it may not be the players they want, but it's spot on in terms of pieces.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mv21227</b></div><div>Canucks decline very easily. Don’t see the Devils doing that either</div></div>
I agree, but that's what swinging for the fences means. Every deal comes down to whatever the other team values... neither you or I have any clue what any GM in the league is thinking or wants. But the Devils have hinted at the possibility of the 2nd pick being available for the right offer. As I stated, the deal only happens from the leafs perspective if the 2nd pick is available, otherwise it's not even a discussion. I can't see the Leafs moving Nylander for anything less than what I put here. So yeah, it most likely doesn't happen... but that doesn't mean it can't happen, or the GM's have a conversation about it... if there's conversation along the lines of "Hey, what would it take for us to get Nylander"? the response is going to be along these lines.
Crazier things have happened.

Do you think this team can win the Stanley Cup as currently construed?
Absolutely not a snowballs chance in hell. Although I do think they match up better vs Tampa then Boston and could win a round.... maybe.
The team is not bad, just young and immature, which translates into their inconsistency. Too many players taking the night off. They are also too soft on the wings... with Hyman and Clifford being the only real push-back up front. The defense is even worse, no grit, no physical power. This team is skill heavy and far too one-dimensional in that regard. They need a big-strong forward who can follow through on big hits and a D-man other than Muzzin who can clear opposition away from the net. Justin Holl is getting better in this regard but a solid "stay-at-home" d-man would be a big help. I would like to see them make an offer to Alex Petierangelo... I like Philip Myers in Philly and Josh Manson would be another great addition. Those are the type of players they need to acquire. Moving Kapenen, Johnson, Bracco, Dermott and possibly Liljgren would be required to get those players.
Other players I think could help adress some issues:
Lawson Crouse - (big body, solid checker, good leadership, pairs up well on 3rd and 4th Left wing)
Marcus Foligno - (plays with some edge, hard checker, rounds out 3rd and 4th line right wing)
Joe Thornton might be an interesting addition at trade deadline in 2021.

X27 Fantasy Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Couturier</b></div><div>Flyers aren't giving away two players they need in return for two players they don't need.</div></div>
It's a "FANTASY" team.
Flyers have an abundance of right D-men and little on the left side, so yes their needs on defense are the same as the Leafs, just opposite sides. Kapenen is an upgrade on right wing to the 2nd line as Konecny can switch back to the left side and if they need more, Jeremy Bracco is available to sweeten the deal. It means the Leafs will have to give up more to get slightly less, but it addresses their needs.
Leafs have an abundance of talent that will never prosper due to a logjam in all forward positions.... Kapenen is too good to be on the 3rd line. Johnson is a solid 2nd liner and Bracco can't even get into the line-up to showcase his talent. They are becoming wasted assets. use them to build defense.
