Oh boy that’s a piss poor take. Gaudreau has more room, Monahan is way more open, Leivo is a shooter and teams can’t just blanket Monahan now. He’s also provided much better defence for that line despite losing Lindholm on that line.

I am hoping Calgary puts together a small package to get Giordano to Seattle, or a big package to get Lucic which I think is less likely. I don't want to see Backund to there but he would be my third option. Either way if Seattle can take one of Calgary's 5 million+ contracts it opens up a whole world of opportunity to build and establish a new young core.

I think that Pelletier has a higher ceiling as a C and Zary has a higher floor, Pelletier's two way game is much stronger and I think he would drive a line better.

Eh, the benefit of Brown far outweighs waiting on Gawdin. I think you're looking more at Pelletier, Zary, Ruzicka, Zavgorodny to replace Ryan in the next couple years, Gawdin I think profiles better on the wing after watching him in Stockton. If I were to look at Flames depth down the middle next year when Ryan is gone I think it's

Based off the one stat sure, I think Smith regresses again and I think that Tippett is poor at managing that, he has a hard on for Smith and the Oilers suffer because of it. Based on your stat provided Jake Allen is the best goalie in the division which makes zero sense.

Holtby and Demko over Andersen and Campbell is not questionable I don't think. D was the toughest one to do and depth forwards are a bit of a mess either way cause they can change so often. Good points.

Hellebuyck should for sure but if Brossoit plays like last year in a compact season the Jets will have a problem. I think Markstrom and Rittich are stronger night in and night out than Hellebuyck and Brossoit

Toronto
Calgary
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Montreal
Vancouver
Ottawa

Winnipeg is such a tough matchup that they will win a bunch of 2-1 games all year and sneak into that last spot
Edmonton and Calgary are interchangeable I think, Edmonton will win a lot of 6-5 games but they can't outscore their problem in the playoffs
Vancouver will push but I just don't think they have the pieces
Montreal/Winnipeg will be close but I think Winnipeg wins more games in a 56 game season, especially in a division they matchup well in
Ottawa will be sneaky, don't count on them being in last

Flames D is much improved, Andersson has taken another step and is quarterbacking PP1, Valimaki has played 20 pro games already this year and looked head and shoulder better in camp than most guys, Tanev replaces Hamonic, that's an upgrade, Valimaki/Nesterov replace Forbort/Gustafsson that's an upgrade, Andersson replaces Brodie, hopefully that proves to be an upgrade.

Flames forwards don't look that different but the way they're deployed should look much different, if a line of Mangiapane, Lindholm and Tkachuk can take some hard minutes away from Gaudreau and Monahan then that should create a true scoring line with Gaudreau Monahan and Leivo. Backlund is Backlund but will likely play with Dube which has been great for any young guy coming up. The depth also looks much improved with Simon, Nordstrom, Ryan, Robinson rotating in and out of the line up. I really like Calgary's center depth if Lindholm works out, Monahan, Lindholm, Backlund, Bennett and Ryan should be able to drive play all year.

Markstrom is sick and I could not be more excited to have a goalie in Calgary as steady as he is. That being said I think that expectations need to be tempered, with how porous Vancouver was last year he had to stand on his head which is why he became so highly regarded, with the amount of shots he faced it would be tough to recreate that production. I think he gets a steadier D core in front of him and overall better team D which will get him similar numbers to last year it just won't be as flashy.

What a stupid way to say that.. Taking back 10 million in two players doesn't help Edmonton depth wise or in net. Edmonton also has one of the deepest defensive prospect pools in the league with Broberg, Bouchard, Bear, Jones, Samorukov, why stunt that growth when you can get a elite 2 way C, deeper on the wings and a goalie for the future? Doesn't make sense, homie. Think before you speak

Probably what it takes, tough to see it happen this year as Calgary would have at least 10 days playing without Lindholm, Hanifin, Dubois due to quarantine. I think this hinges on if CLB sees Lindholm as a C or RW, Calgary is probably adding a pick here
