Murray, Carrick, Tennyson are all UFA. As your roster depth stands now they have 4 defenseman under contract. Now they may think Walsh and Bahl are NHL ready, which means they wouldn't need Risto.

What if it was blown up
Toronto needs to do something to shake up the core. Honestly, I would move Tavares and Reilly to create some cap room and add a goalie. 3 years of 1st round exits with that talent is unacceptable.

I would vote for Ottawa if the throw in Connor Brown.
Or I would vote for LA if they threw in Madden.

The Eichel teade you present makes sense. I would take it minus Domi. Merzilikins and Texier are the 2 pieces I need for sure.

Eichel is fetching 4 or 5 pieces, not 2. Zegras is also rumored to be untouchable, if this is true, Sabres wont do business with them.
That deal for Reinhart also will not work. 26, RFA, entering his prime and averages 60 pts per year. Can play center/wing. He too fetches 2 great pieces or 3 very good pieces.

Possibly. Risto's value is tough to project as he is probably a player a team loves or hates. Rumors point to Devils loving him. The Devils will part with the 2nd Rd easily, it depends on what else.

26 years old, RFA, just entering prime, averages near 60 pts per year and can play C/RW in any situation. That will net you a 1st and top prospect in the NHL today. Look at the Mantha trade at the deadline.

Seattle needs to hit the cap floor, Okposo helps them do that. He brings leadership as well that a new team needs and only has 2 years left on his deal. I think some mid round picks get it done.

Friedman and Dreger have both appeared on Buffalo sports radio this week talking about Hall and teams of interest. Both state Flames would be top landing spot as they went after him hardest in FA 2020. Asking price would be 2nd or 3rd round pick and NHL ready prospect. Dube, Kylington, Pospisil were listed as targets Sabres would have.

McCabe has been good, but Top 15? Maybe Top 50. McCabe is a pending UFA and solid player, but time to move on. He is part of the failed Sabres core.

New Eichel trade
Pearsson is a UFA, so he doesn't make sense in this deal. Sabres are looking for RFA type pieces and building blocks. JT Miller is good, and so are the 2 1st's. Sabres probably ask for Hoglander and 2022 3rd as well.
Eichel and 2021 4th for Miller, Hoglander, 2021 1st, 2022 1st, 2022 3rd

There is no way that OS deters the Canucks from signing Pettersson.</div></div>
Have you seen the Canucks this year? They are also going to be active on the UFA market. So yes, homegrown talent is huge, but to compete do they just worry about home grown talent or actual use the UFA market. The UFA market signings could force the hand on Elias.

I think you need to have some optimism if your a Sabres fan. I think also as a Sabres fan you need to stop overvaluing Jack and Sam. Neither have won **** in this league and neither have lived up to their true potential. Whether that is their fault or the Sabres management is yet to be determined.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SalamiCheese</b></div><div>Maybe Wood is just having a good streak? He usually scores 20-30 points per season, this is not the top 6 LW.
The same can be said about Zacha.
Foote is just an extra part. If we trade Eichel in New Jersey, it starts with Hughes+ or Hischier+, the only way.</div></div>
Wood is now 25 and just now hitting his stride and prime. Wood has also been used in a 4th line role for most of his NHL tenure. Devils are now using him in a second line role this year and he's produced 8 pts in 10 games. He also plays a strong 2 way game, is physical and has size. Something this Sabres team lacks.
Zacha is 23, still a year or 2 away from entering his prime. He too, used in a 3rd or 4th line role the past 3 seasons. He is a 2C in this league.
Foote can has a similar development to Wood which would be fine. The Sabres have not developed a good bottom 6 forward of their own, who can put up 30-35 points in the past decade. Foote is a 2LW/RW in this league by age 25.
Hughes and Hirschier are sexy names, but are they what the Sabres need? The answer is no. Thats what Botterill and Murray failed to do is draft and trade for what the Sabres need. I think Adams recognizes need. Wood, Zacha, Foote would fill needs on the team. They bring size, 2 way game, grit and scoring. The Sabres have not had players that can do all those things throughout this rebuild.
The 2022 and 2023 1st's allow you to draft more skill players.

Calgary has also been interested in Reinhart for the past 2 years. Reinhart moves close to his hometown, Monahan gets a change of scenery along with Bennett who the Sabres can develop into a strong 3rd line player who can also PK. I think that is the most appealing trade to me when I worked on this. If the Eichel trade were not to happen, having Eichel and Monahan as top 2 centers would make Buffalo much deeper and threatening offensively.

I think we have a GM now though that is a good communicator and can sell players on coming here. $$$ speaks a lot in any NHL deal. Plus young talent like Cozens, Quinn, Olofsson, Dahlin would be appealing. Then working on this scenario, having a guy like Tuch, Wood, and Zacha to play with would be appealing as well.

Tons of value for a player who has underachieved and has not been a winner in the league. More than enough talent coming back immediately and 2, 1st's that are likely both lottery picks.

Jim Benning better worry about other things than thank you notes.
He may be the GM that people think is incompetent enough to offer sheet, especially with Demko and Petterson out there.</div></div>
Exactly why I targeted the Canucks. They have a lot of young talent with expiring RFA/UFA deals in the coming years. matching would force a tough decision, which is exactly what offer sheets are designed to do.
