Forbort a negative plus minus and he's a giveaway machine. Not good defenseively. And offensively, he has never scored over 18 points which isnt great offensive work. And its not like he missed huge chunks of games either.and pettersson is being overpayed here.</div></div>

Have you ever taken into account that plus minus is a useless statistic and he plays on the Kings who are one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL?

Josh Anderson is exactly who we need
You'd honestly be better off offer-sheeting Brayden Point than just trading for a guy like Josh Anderson. You need a superstar 1st line center

Plus don't forget there were like 5 other teams who wanted to sign him in 2018 which is why we had to give him 5 years. There are suitors it's just a question of whether JR actually wants to trade him

I'd think they would considering they are going through a rebuild and have Bjornfot, Clague, and Durzi waiting in the wings and if they're in cap trouble 2-3 years later they could just buy out Johnson or trade him since the term is what makes his contract so bad

What exactly is so bad about having goalie depth for you guys? It's the most important position and we shouldn't trade Jarry just to trade him

This shouldnt be a possibility But it is
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFOX10900</b></div><div>But none of those young players look like they're gonna be superstars, and every team needs someone better than Guentzel to be a competitive team, I'd much rather go all in for the best three years (giving up prospects and picks wise, not handing out bad contracts to old players though) and be terrible for 3-5 years than just be a fringe playoff team for the best 3 years then be mediocre for the next eternity, like CAR, never bad enough to tank, but never good enough to make the playoffs it seriously compete</div></div>
Well Columbus went all in this year and look what that got them. It doesn't matter if none of those guys turn out to be superstars because they don't have to be. All the Penguins have to do in order to compete for the cup is make the playoffs and get hot at the right time, and with the youth and speed we've added to the team lead by our veterans with cup experience I don't think we're that far off. The only thing Rutherford has to do in order to make this team competitive again is get rid of Jack Johnson. Literally every player on the team's Corsi goes up when he's not on the ice. When he's on the ice and a goal is scored there's a 57% chance the other team scored it. When he's not on the ice and a goal is scored there's a 60% chance the Penguins scored it. He's actually one of the worst players in the league and putting they should get rid of him for anyone or anything immediately

This shouldnt be a possibility But it is
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFOX10900</b></div><div>The thing is we only have 3 more years of being competitive, that roughly aligns with how many more years Kessel has, so the last 4-6 years of Galch will be useless, and POJ really isn't a good d spec, yeah he was a first rounder, but he can't put on weight, and his stats have been very unimpressive in the Q, his ceiling is probably a bottom pairing d man, and Kessel Keller schmaltz is a legitimate top line, he should be able to put up 75 points with them for a few years, and Galch can get what 50, maybe 60 in a good year, and the difference between that and Kessel is a possible future bottom pairing d man, and we also gave up a fourth, and I wouldn't say POJ's value is all that much more than a fourth</div></div>
Yeah but see if we surround Malkin, Crosby, and Letang with young guys who are going to get better like Mccann, Kahun, Simon, Petterson, Blueger, Galchenyuk, Hallander, PO, Addison, Poulin, Legare, and all these other kids that are young and hungry and will learn from our big 3 we can extend our window even longer. That was the mistake that Detroit made whenever Zetterberg and Datsyuk were nearing the end. They made ridiculous trades and signings for older players thinking they were just one guy away from the cup and in doing so they gave up so many good prospects like Vasilevskiy for Kyle Quincey instead of facing the music and realizing their time was up. This is I think what Rutherford is trying to do by getting all these young players, to try to retool on the fly while still being competitive

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFOX10900</b></div><div>He's not giving up one of his "guys" (Guddy Tanev and JJ) and this team barely made the playoffs last year, and made lateral moves at best this off-season, and since the 2017 draft he's made like 3 guys trades, Kahun, McCann/Bjugstad, and probably one or two more that I'm forgetting, and so many bad trades, Guddy, Galch, Reaves, brassard, probably another I'm forgetting, and yes the Kessel trade was bad, we traded, PPG winger on a fantastic contract for a 1/2 PPG winger that is just as bad defensively, and a meh prospect at best, and his signings are terrible, I'm not saying this team is gonna come in last, but I also don't think this team is making the playoffs next year, WSH, CAR, NYR, NJD, and PHI are all better or equal in the division, and FLA, BOS, TOR, TBL, MTL, and maybe BUF are all better/equal in the Atlantic</div></div>
Are you forgetting that Kessel is gonna be 32 years old when the season starts? Forget all the off-ice stuff, Phil's career P/GP was 0.78 before he came here and the 4 years he was here his P/GP was 0.92. His stats were inflated by playing with Geno and the power play time he got here. Don't get me wrong he's still a very good player but for how long? He's going to a team in Arizona that him and Clayton Keller will have to drag kicking and screaming into the playoffs with no 1st line center. I'd say he gets 65-75 points next year and his decline starts soon thereafter. Whereas Galchenyuk has never played on a team with anywhere near the offensive talent that Pittsburgh has and will likely see his stats go up as a result. Did I mention that he's 7 years younger? Not to mention we also got a very good defensive prospect. You guys need to start thinking with your head and not your heart. Kessel will go the same route as James Neal after we traded him, he'll be good for another 2-3 years then after that his production will fall off a cliff. This was a good trade for us even if we regress slightly next year

c'mon bro he's not that bad. I liked the Kahun and Kessel trades and he's had 2 good drafts the last 2 years. Obviously the Tanev signing was asinine but it might force him to get rid of Johnson so it could be a positive

Ottawa isn't taking Jack Johnson's 4 years left for only a 3rd, especially considering how cheap Melnyk is. You're either giving up a premium package or taking back a bad deal like they were in the Minnesota deal that fell through where Pittsburgh was taking back Rask.
Vegas doesn't seem to have any problems with cash, so they're not going to pay you to take the last year of David Clarkson. They can LTIR the same as Pittsburgh and get cap relief.</div></div>
Alright well then you ask florida for a 2nd instead of a 1st and take out Reimer and Jarry from the deal
